I made a 16 quart pot of stew for family last night and this morning I am enjoying a hot cup of coffee.

Today I checked the specific gravity of the battery electrolyte. It read low, at 1.235 on the hydrometer. It should be 1.277 @ 80 degrees Fahrenheit, temperature compensated to 1.269 @ 60 degrees, which is what the battery temps were. I gave the batteries a 100% charge with my stand-alone Xantrex charger, then set it to equalize mode for 2.5 hours. That stirred the stratified electrolyte up and got the specific gravity up to right at 1.270 in all the cells.

Equalizing the batteries when specific gravity measures below a certain threshold is considered required preventative maintenance by Trojan Batteries, the brand I have. It prevents sulfation and loss of capacity, and extends battery life.

Found the switch with Girard's help. Will be testing when the weather is better.

Looked at and wished the snow would melt. I am itching to get in there and do some mods. Too cold though and the Tyvek cover is on.
