We live about an hour west of Orlando so we still have back roads through the swamps that the tourists don't usually go on. And we thank you for your quarters.

We're outta here
Decided to hit the road early AM now that the projected track is further west. As I said before, not looking forward to the traffic but not taking any chances either. Hope our son in Mobile has the beer cold.

Just got back from the Oregon coast and the Eclipse Hoopla! Was wonderful, the crowds didn't materialize; they were afraid of the fog and smoke, I guess!

Filled it full of water, cleaned out the stuff from race weekend, checked the battery charge, filled fuel cans and topped off generators in preperation of possible power loss here in Ga. Or worse case scenario having to take it to Florida for parents to use.

I'm with you...mine's ready to go to FL for my parents if needed. My dad said they lost power about 2 hours ago in the Ft. Lauderdale area.

Filled fresh water tank about 1/2 full to add weight and covered trailer in preparation for arrival of Ms. Irma. Area we live in S GA is expecting hurricane winds overnight and Monday.
Also loaded up on no ethanol fuel for twin 2k inverter generators as backup.

Filled all the tanks for "ballast" , took out all the expensive stuff and tucked it in between the carport and some good solid trees.
I wanted to go "rustic" and nail plywood over the widows, to match the house, but the Lady of the House wouldn't let me.
Hopefully, we won't have to, but plans are in place to turtle in it if the house is damaged.
Well find out,in the next few hours... ( this is Sunday at 3 pm, the leading edge of Irma just arrived)
Ian & Julie, the wet and windblown people down the sreet...

Installed a Renogy 100 watt Solar system in my 12UD. The controller in mounted just inside the door above the fire ext. I set it up so if I have the camper in the shade I can locate the panel in the sun. I used a 40 ft 14 gauge extension cord for wiring. I used the plugs as quick disconnect inside the refrigerator cover. I put rubber feet on the frame so it can sit on top for maintaining the battery at home. I may do a post under pop ups with some photos later.

Just installed 1.2 Solar System In My 5'er
Hi all,
Now I live in my RV full time. and just installed 1,200 watt Solar System In My 5'er.
Here is what I have..........
I have 2 strings of Solar Panels.
String #1.
Two Hyndai 350 watt 72 cell solar panels with a Morningstar 45 amp Solar Controller. Total watts 700 watts.
String #2.
Five 100 watt Renogy Solar panels with a Renogy Commander 40 amp solar controller. Total watts 500 watts.
Battery Bank:
Six V-MAX 155 ah batteries ( located in the generator box area ) total amp
hours = 930 amp hours.
I also have a Zantrex PROwatt SW 2000 watt pure sine inverter.
Now that may be alot but you have to remember that you need to subtract
20% of your total watts for your solar controller and wiring.
So my total Solar System is 1,200 watts minus 20% = Actual wattage is 960
watts total.
Works for me

Installed my Lippert Solera slide out awning on my 29RKS - literally took less than an hour. Saved a bundle of dough and no more cleaning debris off the slide out after camping. Thanks to "doug" and "wabirch" for the insight and documents!

That is a nice M38A1. I have a 48 CJ-2A that I have been working on for a long time now. I say that I am going to finish some day. I stopped working on it when my son was born, he just turned 9. I took it down to the frame and redid everything. I stopped when I got to the body work. Just that, exhaust, wiring and interior (which is minimal). Life gets in the way sometimes.

Thank very much for the kind words. Truth be told I just bought her as is. Love this thing. Out 100 miles in it today. I understand on the build timeline. This is my second jeep. First I never finished with my old man.
