Performing first of the month stuff right now. Switched Norcold to propane for a few hours, running Onan for 1 hour with load, switched water heater to propane and running a load of laundry.

Traded the 195RB for a 212QB Wednesday, testing everything I can this weekend without having to un-winterize it. Fired up the furnace yesterday and set off the smoke alarm for a few minutes until the new burned off.

I opened all the doors and windows I could open and ran every fan in the rig (on both new rigs I've "broken in") and never set off the alarms. When I did it with the trailer, I froze my butt off!

What I did to my Jayco: I did a storage check/monthly run. Unfortunately I didn't get to drive it (for the sake of the tires), but I ran the motor at least 15 minutes, shifted the trans through all the gears a few times, ran the generator under load (air conditioner) and watched a little TV. I would like to have run the generator longer and driven it, but time simply didn't allow...

BTW, that's the "long-term storage" process outlined in the Ford Chassis owner's manual (every 15 days, idle the engine for 15 minutes and shift through all of the gears).

Dropped her off for surgery - getting the stress crack fixed, and while she's in the shop also having a couple of dings repaired. And was from a stone that kicked up off the road, the other we have no idea what happened as it's right below the entry door.

Prepped it for a trip back to the dealer for a few minor issues to be resolved from the initial inspection. Cleaned it up after a trip to Savannah, GA this past weekend.

Bought a Moryde wet bolt kit yesterday that should be here tomorrow. And in a couple weeks I gotta drop $1k in some new shoes for it. And neither one is getting put on until it warms up in april.

Wow Tom I am thinking about pulling some of the snow off the roof to lesson the snow load on the TT. I have the boondocking itch even in 20 degree weather. Way too early for this left coast state. This right looking person is just putting in the working hours and dreaming for April maybe? Have fun and enjoy. I am, now days they call it jelly from the younger generation.

I feel for you Duke! It’s supposed to be in the upper 70s this weekend. I couldn’t handle not being able to camp year round. Hopefully you’ll get some nicer weather to be able to go out soon. [emoji3]

Went out to the storage lot and cleared a couple of feet of packed snow off the roof. We live in the snow belt, so I go out and check a couple of times each winter, but the wind and the sun usually keep it clear enough. This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to actually clear it.

It was an interesting experience. Had to snow shoe in from the cleared access road, and then use the snow shoes to pack down a path all the way around the unit. The snow on the ground was actually piled up higher than the bottom of the door, so had to clear that away so we could get the door open and check inside.

Used an extension ladder resting against the side of the unit to get up high enough, and then used the shovel upside down to rake the snow off until only a couple of inches remained. Had to be extra careful around skylights and antennae. Feeling a lot better about the snow load now.

Also brought a few samples of flooring along. Think we have picked the winner. First job in the spring is the replace the plywood floor I ripped out in the fall (moisture meter says everything is plenty dry now, so I guess we have the leak sealed) and then brand new vinyl plank flooring throughout. Picked a nice Hickory look flooring with "hand scraped" look. Of course it is almost the most expensive option that Lowes has. Luckily only need about 100-120sf - probably should have actually measured before we loaded the kayaks and other gear inside for winter storage.

Drug her out of storage - still winterized - and took her into town. Got her all safety inspected up and then put her back into her storage slot. 2 hours in the cold for a $7 safety inspection for LP tags.

Decreased the depth of my medicine cabinet by one inch and raised the entire cabinet two inches. Why? Bending down to rinse my face after shaving or mouth after brushing my teeth required too many movements! Next up, replace factory facet with goose neck style.

Cleaned up the interior a bit after our outing over the weekend. Lots of rain here. I also added a couple cup holders on either side of the couch.

After almost 3 years of fulltiming, finally bought a black tank rinser- model Valterra A01-0187VP Flexible Tank Wand. It’s only 40” long, and got excellent reviews on Amazon. Connected to my black hose, it went another 24” down past the toilet valve and did a great job, recovered 3/4 sensors(which will fail again in a week).

So it’s about 64” deep to the bottom of my black tank, so naturally I’d like to see a longer version of this device. With this large 5th wheel, must take care to slowly vertical and 180 motion so not to clip the plastic flow lever on anything. Most likely will have to make my own custom one day.

Ordered some stuff to install in the fiver:

Fantastic Fan w/thermostat
Vent Cover for FF
Carefree awning support bracket for my 21' awning
Coleman Mach digital thermostat
RVMasking heavy duty wheel covers
Oxygenics Fury RV shower head
Extra TST TPMS valve thingee

Now all I need is some decent weather to open her up and install. Gotta get it done before our first trip on April 1st.

BTW, anybody need a Dexter Wet Bolt Kit #K71-359-00 for 33" tandem axle spacing? Have one new in box ($100) I purchased for my Jay Flight that I traded in last year.

Happy RVing,
Jeff
