What Did You Do To Your RV TODAY?

Just picked up from a shop getting the bearings repacked. Trailer is just over two years old. One axle was new in July last year. 3 of the four bearing packs(not sure the correct term) needed replacing. There was scoring and lose individual bearings. Glad I got it done. I was doing the once a year easy lube method. Now, I’ll get them repacked instead. Also had them hit the suspension zerks while at it.

$410. Saved me a lot of hassle and sweat.

Swapped the old showerhead for an oxygenics fury, tossed the stock vent fan for a new Vortex I from Heng's, and installed some step braces because every time I step on the bottom step it sounds like I'm pulling my wall off the trailer.

Trifecta! Where did you find the step braces? Easy install?

They are the camco self-store braces, I got two of them on Amazon for 17 each. Pretty easy install, just drilled some holes for the hardware that came with them. My bottom step comes pretty close to the ground where I'm at, just a little too close for the braces which seem pretty tall under my step. luckily it's dirt and I could dig some out to get them to deploy properly. Something to keep in mind. I just installed them tonight so I don't know how they will perform long term or with weight more than just my 245 lb self, but so far I'm very happy with them. There's a major improvement in stability, I have them just barely touching the ground and they take all of the weight nicely. I have seen a mod someone did with pipe T-clamps (not sure what they actually are called) and another section of pipe between to stabilize them.

Edit: uploaded pic of the paper that came with it

Thanks Pacman! I’ll check it out.

Installed a MORryde wet bolt kit today. About five hours but not too bad for an old 72 yr old on a gravel road. I never was happy with the old bolts. They were torqued tight by the nut but too much play between the shackles. It is all snug now. Anxious to get back on the road and try it out.

I installed these about 2 years ago but I had to modify them because they were too long. Makes the steps very sturdy and takes the entry shake out of the camper.

Adjusted tire pressures because we are headed to cooler weather. Had to add 5 psi each to just about 8 tires.

Replaced the ECO, and while at it the thermostat as well, on water heater - broke off one of the ECO terminals while doing yearly maintenance/cleaning of the water heater - doh! Not too keen on how those things "mount" to the water heater...not too sure how many times you can replace those things before the small metal tabs break off from bending too many times....
now have to get the courage up to dive into the belly of the RV to replace the water heater relay that has been out for over a month....

Cut out part of the dining room floor due to water leak apparently by the slide ski that I discovered last weekend…..the slide ski is located at both ends of the slide ….mine slightly popped out for about 2 inches from under the metal trim at the bottom which allowed water running down the slide end to enter….so please everyone….check the bottom ends of you slides and make sure the plastic slide ski is secure and under the metal trim… I am lucky…I caught it early and only had to replace 8 inches of the floor….job has taken 2 days so far and hope to finish tomorrow and test it out….

Getting ready to start a project that requires me to travel a lot. So I actually winterized the trailer today since I wiil not be home for a couple of months and did not want any surprises.
Plan to use my trailer for my elk hunt in late November. Will carry water for that but will not use the plumbing in the trailer. Have experienced some serious frigid weather in the Colorado high country in late November before.

Cleaned everything, then started repacking everything we took out when it went to storage. She's gonna get a bath tomorrow.

Getting ready for a trip to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland!

I just had the large slide repaired. One of the thru bolts on the drive broke and the front of the slide wasn't moving. The same thing happened to the rear of this same slide a couple of years ago. A 5/16" grade 8 bolt just snapped in two. I did have a replacement part (things I learned to do when living either in small towns with no parts available or just off the grid).

Now first thing tomorrow morning I'm off to Talladega for a week of volunteering.

I heard some wood cracking last night as I rolled over in bed, so I decided it was time to reinforce this poor bed frame a little with some 2x4s. Two run the length of the bed and have extra screws in the ends, two reinforce the original framing where the lifts connect, and the beginnings of a framed area for future electrical upgrades helps support everything in the middle. MUCH more solid over all, and the plywood doesn't twist nearly as much when lifting the bed. Now I need to make something for the panels to the side of the bed since I knocked one out. I tried to fix the pic but it still came out sideways.

Had some decent weather today so got up on the roof and gave it the fall washing with the Dicor rubber roof cleaner. Tomorrow I'll inspect all the caulking and get a coat of the Dicor UV roof protector on.
