Had the bearings repacked, new seals, all wet bolts greased and brakes inspected and cleaned. Breaks looked great after nearly 18,000 miles. Total: $373.00

New brakes

Finally converted the drum brakes to hydraulic disk units. The installer and wife team came to the farm and spent about 4 hours doing this conversion. The whole assembly is made by Dexter, so parts should be readily available. The kit was purchased from Performancetrailerbraking.com and shipped to me in 4 large boxes and a smaller box. The installer and wife team go by A&A Mobile services Inc. and named John and Barbara Alinger. They travel the country doing this full time on a Grand designs toy hauler. They do the north country in summer and head south to Florida for the winter. Took it for a test drive after and he was stopping the trailer/truck with the manual squeeze paddles in the truck, very impressive. If anyone is interested in any of the kits, contact me first as I have a referral card from them, save you $50 and give me $50.

One more picture with the reservoir installed. I cut a piece of board and painted it black to mount the reservoir. he said the wall was too flimsy.

What was the total cost including installation?

I dropped the trailer off for indoor winter storage today

Time to start planning on what to do next year; hopefully it will be a bit brighter than this year (I will try not to be on crutches three Augusts in a row...). I did notice my tire date codes were 4017 and 4117 for the four tires (2 of each), so I need to start thinking about replacements next year probably... Hopefully the Endurance shortage resolves itself...

Hi, here is the breakdown. This was June 29th.

The current price of your disc brake kit is $2625 and the install would be an additional $1000 which is paid directly to the installer at the time of install.

However, we always recommend that customers who have 1/2 inch studs (as you do) upgrade to the 8,000 pound kit which is identical to the 7,000 pound kit except that it has 9/16 inch studs which will give you a little beefier stud and a larger outer bearing...in other words, more peace of mind. The two kits are the same price but you would need to purchase new lug nuts to fit the 9/16 inch studs which would be an additional $64 for your tandem axle trailer. Making the total of your kit $2689.

No need to change your tires. Most wheels are bored to fit a 5/8 stud so the 9/16 inch studs should fit just fine.

Approximately, 99% of our customers choose to go with this upgrade and we've never had an issue with the studs not fitting the wheels.

We will have an installer in your area around October timeframe if that works for you, please let me know so I can contact him.

Parts Labor Total
Disc Brake Conversion (Tandem) $2,625.00 $1,000.00
9/16 Lug nuts $64.00 $0.00
$2,689.00 $1,000.00 $3,689.00

While having my brakes done I checked the tires. 2 said 4120 and 2 4420, and this is a '21 Pinnacle.

We have a 2018 212QB also, and my tires are all 2617 code. Debating whether to wait another year, or replace this spring. How many miles do you have on yours?

We have a little over 11k miles on ours, but the sidewalls and tread still look great. They are always covered when not on the road and I am diligent about checking the pressure. Don’t want to gamble, but don’t want to replace them prematurely, either.

Now that right there look like a big job I would love to have something like that done to our fiver, but I'm not sure that I'm going to keep our fiver long, I would love to trade in our for something else we went looking yesterday and I'm not sure if the wife will say let's go for it. Everything look organizes and put well together, I will be interesting in doing something like this but I will have to wait a little, I will keep this in mind for sure.

With decent weather this weekend I finished up the end of year roof maintenance and got a coat of the UV/Rubber Roof protectant on. Also drained the hot water tank, removed the undersink water filter and blew out the lines. I have a couple gallons of antifreeze on the shelf for the colder weather, otherwise it's pretty much tucked in for the winter. Now it's time to start planning for next season - already have a couple of reservations made including a week at Red Rock Canyon outside of Vegas in late April.

This same fellow said he will come to you, if in your part of the country, and repack bearings for $300. We should be good to go for a while, but have his number just incase.

The husband/wife team did a great job, each knew what they were supposed to be doing. She had what he needed already put together when he needed it.
