I'm just sitting here enjoying a nice quiet cup of coffee before the racing starts at 8:00am eastern time. I'm sure glad I run my generator one hour each and every month under load so that it works when I need it. I arrived at Road Atlanta two days ago and have clocked 15 hours on the generator since arrival. You must keep TV on for the grand children you know AND to keep the coffee pot working.

Same boat I am in! The 5er is really dirty. Wait for it to cool a few more degrees and then dig into it.

Hauled her away to indoor storage for the winter. Of course it's raining today so all that cleaning before taking her in ended up getting messed up. Man that didn't work out well. So...this book of campgrounds. Where do we start planning for next year?

Started the fridge and got her loaded up for her maiden trip this weekend.

Of course, this will likely be her only trip this year, so I'll be winterizing soon afterwards.

What Did You Do To Your Jayco TODAY?

My Father-in-Law and I converted my '96 Jayco Jay 1008 to 30 amp and installed a roof mount ac unit last Saturday(not today, I know, I know...). We just popped the roof vent out, and the ac fit like a dream in the existing hole. We sealed It with weatherstripping and what I believe was 20 year roofing caulk. (He already had the tube ready to go, and I didn't personally read it! )We then installed a new 30' shore power cord, which we wired into a brand new breaker box. Bought the cord, a heavy duty plug and box at Home Depot with an included 60 amp breaker and popped that one out, replacing it with a 30 amp. (They didn't have any other acceptable prebuilt boxes.) Wired the shore power supply straight into this box, and then pigtailed over to the existing power box for the house power of the trailer. We left about 8-10" of the old shore power cord to tie into the new breaker box to feed power to the existing box. Then we installed the plug on the business end of the shore power cord and waterproofed the plug with silicon. Presto chango-AC equipped pop up!

I've never done any electrical before, but I actually did the lion's share of the wiring on this project. The most difficult part was routing the cord through the wall panels alongside the existing electrical wiring. The entire project took approx 5 hours, including shopping time. And the feeling of accomplishment is great! Not to mention the happy wife part of the equation. Taking the camper out for its maiden voyage tomorrow. Too bad we probably won't even need the ac.

Will take pics of everything and attempt to post them from the campsite tomorrow night. No promises.

Just bring water in gallon jugs and you can use that for the bathroom. All you will have to do is dump the holding tanks when you are done. We have traveled South with the trailer winterized and just use the water jugs until we are in warmer temps.

Since we had to cancel our scheduled last trip for next week , I winterized and started dreaming about next year.

Spent last night in "Camp Driveway" and then sadly, we winterized our trailer today and put the cover on Now the long wait until spring.

Sallie finished a nice quilt for our bed today. The colors of the quilt go well with the colors in the trailer.

Sadly brought her home and winterized her. She is now in camper storage with her friends until the spring when she will awaken again to the daylight.

I bought a heated blanket for the Jayco today. It will help with the harsh Arizona winter.

I switched my propane from the on board tanks to my 150 gallon external tank for the winter. I also put out 9 solar/LED landscape lights around the front. I will be on this site until spring unless the mood strikes me to go somewhere.

In the next day or two I will be changing the oil and filter in my Onan.

Because I've recently read quite a bit about rear bumper failures due to mounting bikes and spare tires and cargo platforms...etc. I got worried about my bike rack with 2 bikes and the spare tire carrier all mounted back there where I can't see them while in tow. Not that my bumper looks like its about to fall off...it doesn't at all; no bent/crushed/stressed metal and the welds are full length on both sides plus the top. Its a pretty solid bumper...nonetheless I couldn't stop being concerned that something catastrophic could happen and other drivers might get hurt or sustain vehicle damage at least. I'd also lose my sewer hose, bikes, spare tire, tag and the bumper. I decided to reinforce it myself using 2-1/2 steel brackets that by chance, someone left at my jobsite. If you can imagine a steel strip 4 inches wide by 22" long bent half in the middle of the long dim. out of 1/2" steel plate. Perfect!!! I took the pair of them and cut the side lengths down to 7" and 9", drilled holes and used the 9" leg to attach to the frame and the 7" leg to the bumper with 2-5/8 x 3" hex bolts and 4-3/8 x 1 carriage bolts respectively on each side. I'll have to post pictures but let's just say it looks like overkill and I could probably hitch a trailer to it now. The bumper isn't going down even if the welds crack...what's even better is that the carriage bolts don't interfere with the sewer hose storage inside the tube. I probably added 25 lbs to the rear but hey, the bumper is secure.

I wonder if these missing parts are more wide spread than we know?
Same thing happened to me....Dexter axles...2 broken adjuster springs... 1 chewed up adjuster wheel. Replaced...no warranty.
