Our 2015 Octane T32C had absolutely zero storage for sewer hoses from the factory. It has no bumper, being a toy hauler, and Jayco had installed completely worthless 2' deep tube behind a door labeled "sewer hose" on it - too short and too narrow a diameter for any of my hoses. So, I installed a 5x5 vinyl fence post underneath the trailer to use for sewer hose storage. I got the idea from some other threads on here. I painted it black and used some painted Simpson StrongTies wrapped around the tube and screwed into the frame.

The second project for the day was installing a new vent cover that I picked up at the Hershey show yesterday over the bathroom vent. Since that's also a fan, I'm thinking I may pick up a Maxxaire II (double the airflow), move the current cover (regular Maxxair) to the vent above the galley and put the II over the bathroom.

Actually it was yesterday. re-surfaced the roof with the Dicor 2 stage roof refinish system. came out well. glad I did it yesterday and not today! it was 85 yesterday and 100 today.

Moved from Panama City, FL to my home base site. 252 miles and my Designer towed perfectly as usual. I'm even getting better at backing into my home base site. It isn't a hard backing site, just a relatively busy highway that I block. When I pulled up beside my drive there were no vehicles visible behind me. So I pulled up and backed in. As soon as I could see the lanes behind me, this was a maximum of 20-30 seconds, there were 6 vehicles sitting there waiting. I have no idea where they came from, but at least they were stopped and not running me over.

Brought her home from storage, getting cooled down, turned on and bled the propane. Probably get it wet and start packing tonight. Tomorrow is grocery shopping and packing for Wednesday departure for a long weekend at the beach!

A couple days ago I totally rewired my braking system with new wire. Upgraded from 12 gauge to 10 gauge for most of the run, but still used the smaller 12 gauge for the jumpers from front to rear wheels, since those runs needed to handle the amperage for just one magnet. The primary run from front junction box to first wheel has to handle the amperage for all 4 brake magnets- potentially up to 14 amps total. I ran 10 gauge across the front axle to handle the RH side brakes.

So now my brakes, hubs, bearings, seals and tires are all new. It's a good feeling!

Mainly I upgraded to new for peace of mind, Crabman. My TT's been pulled over 30K miles total, and it's been almost three years since I opened up the hubs and checked the bearings and brakes. The last 18 months my TT has just been sitting at the RV park. I'm heading down to Arizona this winter and will be travelling to some remote locations, so I wanted to know for sure the brakes and bearings were at 100%.

I was originally planning to just replace the bearings, seals and brake shoes, but found that it wasn't too much more expensive to just go with all new parts. For instance, brake shoes alone for each wheel run about $20 per wheel. I could buy brand new brake assemblies for $30 per wheel, which included everything- backing plate, shoes, magnet and all hardware.

The original Dexter brake assemblies were self-adjusting. I went with less expensive Tru-Ryde manually adjusted brakes, which were $15 cheaper than new Dexter self adjusting brakes. Kinda figured it would be good to HAVE to ocassionally raise each wheel to manually adjust the brakes since I would be checking the bearing performance for binding and looseness at the same time.

Bearing/seal kits for each wheel ran $12 each wheel. Machining the drums would have cost $10 each for the braking surface, plus $35 each for machining the magnet armature surface. New Dexter hubs, which included all new bearings and seals, cost $50 per wheel, so it was actually cheaper to buy new (and a lot less work) than reworking the old hubs.

The existing brake system wiring had some issues and potential problems. All the connections in the wiring system were corroded pretty badly, even up front at the connection in the junction box. Also, I read that the through-axle brake wiring sometimes shorted out inside the axle tubes from damaged/worn insulation.

I replaced the original 12 gauge wire from the junction box to the left-side front axle with new 10 gauge wire. Another section of 10 gauge wire was ran across the top of the front axle to the right side, bypassing the through-axle wire. I jumpered directly from front to back brake assemblies with 12 gauge wire. All connections were crimped, soldered and weatherproofed. Original connections were only crimped.

That's the story of why I did the major upgrade. Plus, I'm sure my set of brand new Maxxis 8-ply tires will appreciate the solid backing.

Just had my 5th wheel washed and waxed, and the Ram also washed. Man, do they look nice. Just came in from two week long trips and the roads have been dusty as hell down here in Georgia. So guess what, this morning it rains! Oh well, best laid plans....... Best part was the guy did all that for $200. It was well worth it to me.

Yesterday I removed all the crap from my TT that I won't need for my trip to AZ and put it in my storage unit. Got all the stuff I'll need for boondocking out of storage (sewer tote, ToughBuddy Propane heater and 5 gal propane tank, MTN bike, EU2000i generator, 4 gas storage containers, water cube, etc.).

Fired up the generator for the first time since Feb, 2014. Added a little gas to the tank and cycled it several times to pump gas from tank to carb bowl. Once it started, it smoked a lot as it burned away the oil I squirted into the cylinder for storage. Let it run under load for 30 minutes. (used a hi power heat gun). Changed out oil (Walmart SuperTech 10W30 full synthetic), replaced the spark plug with a new one, drained the fuel from the bowl, and put the Honda away for now. It'll be used regularly starting in October.

Hooked up my TT to the truck and pulled it 30 or 40 miles to check the performance of the new brakes I installed. Works great! After the trip I double checked the tightness of the nuts holding the brake assembly plates to the axles, manually adjusted the brakes, and re-torqued the wheel lug nuts. And pumped the tires up to 70 psi. I'll check them tomorrow morning when cold, and make sure they're all at 65 psi, which is max pressure on my new Maxxis 8 ply load range D tires. I like my new tires!

However...

I realized that my truck brakes were in worse shape than I thought. Lots of pulsing from one or two warped rotors. Bought a pair of high quality new rotors and 4 ceramic/metallic brake pads. Tomorrows project. It never ends, it seems.

Isn't it nice that the generator worked after being idle for so long? It is amazing what a little preventative work does for future use vs just ignoring it and then wonder why it won't work. Nice Job!
