Installed New Dual 6 Volt Batteries
Removed the dealer-installed 12 volt Group 24 batteries and installed two 6 volt Trojan T-145 deep cycle batteries. Fortunately the existing wiring and battery cables worked fine with no modifications. It took less than 30 minutes, start to finish, including installing the new battery box shackle.
We do mostly dry camping year-round and like to set the furnace to 60 degrees at night. With the temperature dipping down into the low 40's at night, the furnace kicks on quite a lot. The 12 volt batteries ran down quickly. Hopefully with these new batteries and a generator topping them off each day, we won't hear that low battery alarm ever again.

Moved it forward a couple feet to change the tire position. Ran out the slide & awning. Had some rain & the awning needed drying. Opened all windows & shades just so they get some movement. Also ran the A/C for about 5 minutes.

At approximately noon today I will get it back from the repair facility with a brand new roof. I know I'm ready to get it back vs this motel room.
Then to a COE Campground on the way back to my home base for a few days.

That is the same set up I have for my batteries, ( do not have the cross bar)
Do You have solar power on the trailer?
That has worked very well for me, As I dry camp most of the summer.
You have a lot more space for the box than I do, it is wedge behind the propane tanks and trailer.

So my 5er is winterized and just stilling.
Its plugged in through my outlet on the side of the house (which seems to do nothing for the batter)
its under a foot of snow but I shovels around the landing gear and the wheels and tires...
Is there anything I should look into doing to it?
I know I am going to do a full spray wash this spring but this being my maiden year I am curious to what you all would recommend

We're in drought-imposed California and so were looking for an easy low-water wash solution ... and found it through this site: Optimum No Rinse Wash and Wax (purchased through Amazon). The two of us, with two buckets, did the whole thing in about an hour. Even with a couple of camping trips since then - and some time in the storage lot - when we pulled it home in prep for tomorrow's jaunt, we were amazed at how good it looks! Highly recommended.
And yep, we used it on EVERYTHING - and then you can use it to water your plants (according to the directions, we did and they are doing fine). Amazing how it removed the grime and almost seems to repel road crud.

Excellent thank you for the input. I'll certainly look it up and see about a purchase. How much was it? Did you get up on the roof and scrub that and the Seals too?

I don't recall your rig type but most modern converters will keep the battery in good shape if powered up. Check the water levels and don't let it go or your battery may be damaged. All you should need at the end is a good wash, inspection of the roof seams and a check of all systems.
We don't have a off season where we are but still do it on a regular basis. Tomorrow I drop mine off at the dealer for a re-pack of the wheel bearings and brake inspection. I have that done every other year.

Good information here. I'll double check it. I brought it in and mentioned the battery and they said it checked out on the voltage side but I am skeptical given the temps and weather we have had.
Thanks for the heads up. Don't feel like replacing a battery already

Installed a second Group 24 battery. A little bit of a squeeze to get them both in place - probably should have looked for a single battery box - but everything worked out fine. Just wanted a little bit of extra in case we run into a night or two without hook-ups in between destinations. We did fine this last season with just the one, but we are planning to be on the road more this next season so it seemed like a prudent addition.

Not directly to the Jayco, but I made reservations for another trip! Will probably be second to last trip until late April or early May. Means I get to go pick her up from storage tonight or tomorrow!

My battery is dead AGAIN. How do I add a second battery to disperse the load being drawn?

Cody, if your battery is not holding a charge, it has to be either the battery, connections or the converter is not charging it. No reason for it to go dead with ac power sitting unused.
I would have that battery tested again or check or have checked the charging output of the converter.
IMO adding another battery in parallel will not help this problem.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll schedule an apt with service. They put a year warranty on it from the date of sale
