What do you use for accurate, timely weather information?

We prefer weather.gov.

I use Weather Underground on my phone. It seems to guess at it better than the local weather on the TV.

We use the National Weather Service. For a more accurate up to the minute forecast, I stick my head outside and look.

Before smart phones, we had the town highway foreman come into the firehouse just before a storm to check the weather on our computer. I watched to see what super secret web site the pros use. Answer? The local TV sites. He said they had tried numerous weather sites and the local TV stations were usually the best. Just have to discount the typical hysteria by the anchors and listen for the facts.

Timely question: "An Atlas V rocket is all set to launch (now set for 6:42PM EST) this afternoon from Cape Canaveral, Florida, sending a NASA-built weather satellite into orbit. It’s the GOES-R probe, and it’s being touted as a game changer for weather forecasting. The spacecraft, which will also be operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, is supposed to provide incredible real-time images of developing storm systems, better than any satellite that has preceded it."

We use our weather radio which automatically locates the local national weather service broadcast when we travel.

We use an Accuweather forecaster in the TT. Since we mostly boondock, (when I say we boondock, I mean we not only get out of cell range, we often find ourselves without even a radio signal), the Accuweather gives us current conditions and a 12-24 hour forecast.

24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not.

We use the NOAH WX RADIO with alarms for the county we are in. Also have Cell Phone WX and Sirius WX in the truck.

We camp off-grid for the most part and the first thing I look for is a 24 hour WX channel from the Natl Broadcast OTA HDTV channels using my BATWING antenna... Live radar is great for us in the local area...

We also have all of the Internet WX stations available to us when we can get on the internet. We carry the Verizon MIFI acct that works on the internet just about everywhere we end up at...

Being in our OFF-ROAD POPUP trailer camping up the high country somewhere knowing what the weather is doing is a pretty big priority for us...

Accuweather for me on my phone. It's as good as any I've found, and one of only a couple that was even close to right when we lived in the Bahamas.

If I'm out of phone contact, then I do it the old fashioned way..... I look out the window or wet my finger and and hold it up.
