What kind of flashlights do you have?
I recently stumbled across a couple of flashlight forums where people call themselves "flashaholics" and discuss beam patterns, lumens, color temperature, and batteries down to the smallest little details. I casually read a few threads and realized there is a big market for high end flashlights and the technology has come a long, long way from incandescent bulbs in a 2D maglite. I initially walked away finding it interesting these communities existed, but of course (many of you know where this is going) I got more curious, started watching you tube videos, and ended up buying an $80 flashlight. Then before it even arrived I bought a $20 light that's very well reviewed on these sites. So $100 later and now I'm hooked. I bought a Nitecore MH25GT and a Convoy S2+. I haven't received the Convoy yet but I've had a few nights to play with the MH25GT and holy hell, this thing is BRIGHT. Even the low setting is more than enough for most tasks. It got me to wondering though, what do JOF members use while camping to light up the night when need be?

I have a small collection of flashlights. Some cheapies for the boys to possibly misplace, or a few nicer ones.
Nitecore P12
Fenix PD35 TAC
A few ShiningBeam mini's- 18650 powered
Those are the nicer ones. As I mentioned, have a handful of cheap ones so if the boys loose one or two, it's only a couple dollars.

We have a 3 cell Maglite and a few cheapie small ones that are very inexpensive. We get the most use from the type that fit over my head for walking the dogs at night and for working on the rig or changing a bulb when more hands are needed. My only requirement is they must use commonly available batteries like D,C, AAA or AA cells..
LED bulbs keep them working a long time between battery changes.

I ordered 1 of these https://www.amazon.com/Prosvet-Porta...led+flashlight last year and was so impressed I bought 2 more. Well built and comes with everything you need. Lot's of great flashlight options out there.

I have a few led flashlights that I received free from Harbor Freight. So far I have only used them to light dark areas. I did have one go bad, batteries died, several years ago. AlthoughI was sorry to see it go, I opened my toolbox and selected another. I must learn what other services a high dollar flash light provides. Please enlighten me. See what I did there ?

A couple of 3 cell Maglights, and at least half a dozen HF freebies. Oh, and a ball cap with a couple LEDs for dog walking.

I never really thought about it before reading this, but I may actually have a bit of a problem when it comes to flashlights. Right off the top, I can think of at least 2 headlamps, a trio of maglites, assorted pocket and glove box sized torches, and a couple of lantern style units. I've learned over the years to not buy cheap flashlights and have upgraded everything I own to LED over the years. My personal all-time favorite is the Coleman Quad Lantern. It's a table-top model that uses D-cell battteries to power four removable and rechargeable panels. It's got to be 10 years old or more now and is probably discontinued from current production, but those panels worked great for the kids bunks at night when they were younger. Now, us old-timers use them in our bunks at hunting camp for those late night trips to the outhouse.

I have 3 different versions of the Streamlight SL20 a rechargeable flash light. The first one I purchase some 15 years ago was a incadesont bulb, the 2nd about, 7 years ago was a dual switch and had LED and a incadesont, the newest one is 100% LED.
And then there is the multitude of Surefire lights. I must confess I am certainly a Surefire fanboy! My Surefire lights run from old 80 lumen incadesont to new 500 lumen LED.
I am a sucker for a bomb proof flashlight.

I am like some of the others and have several brands but Streamlight is my go to brand seeing how I sell and give them away to my industrial customers. I started out with the microstream (1 aaa battery) then the Stylus Pro (2 aaa batteries) then the Protac 2L (2 CR123 batteries). All three fit in a front pocket and be carried every day and all three are very bright especially the Protac 2L. I never realized how much I use or needed a flashlight until I started carrying one.

I've picked up several sets of Feit Electric at Costco. Each contains 3 LED flashlights; 1000 Lumens (3 D cells), 500 Lumens (3 C cells) and 250 Lumens (3 AAA cells). Each comes with a zoom in (beam) and zoom out (wide) slide lens. Batteries are included.
Each is equivalent to Maglight. I keep the 1000 and 500 lumens in my pickup (large in driver's side console bin and 500 on passenger side bin. The 250 is in the storage bin. A set in the trailer and a set at home. Make great Christmas/Birthday/etc gifts.
Cost for the boxed set is $37.

I don't know what I currently have. Two - three years ago they were about $20 (in Walmart), I'm thinking LEDs. I do know they are significantly brighter than my older flashlights and the batteries seem to last longer. Plus they are a bit smaller resting in the glove-boxes of three diff. vehicles.
Now my defensive light was $125 (Amazon) and can burn thru several hundred feet of my back woods. You don't want to be illuminated by it, especially if you are inside my abode.

Almost all 10,000 hr led flashlights that I have had have the cheap push button button on the bottom fail after 100 to 200 clicks. Great bulbs, cheap a$$ on off buttons.

I have four Energizer 185 lumen LED flashlights. They use two AA batteries each; I use Eneloop rechargeable batteries in them. I keep one by my bed, one in my desk, one in my purse, and one in my truck. They are rugged, reliable, put out a decent amount of light, and aren't battery hogs.
For more serious amounts of light, I have a couple of Ryobi lanterns that use the same 18v batteries my Ryobi power tools use.

I had one of those ball caps led hats. When I went to replace the batteries, they cost more than the hat did when new. Now it's only a hat and I wear a Coast headlamp from Lowes, uses 2 AAA batteries for dog walking.

I paid less than half of that price.
