Arrival. Just fantastic. Great hard core sci-fi.

I agree with DocBrown: Arrival was one of the best SciFi movies ever made. It was an original plot, mesmerizing, intriguing, well acted, thoughtful and cogent.

Give a few hours to watching GHOST TOWN, w/Ricky Gervais, and STRANGER THAN FICTION, w/Will Ferrell. I'm not a fan of Ferrell, but here he plays a subdued character you can't help but like. Both movies are creative, clever, funny and heart-warming. And they're NOT rated R (although each has a quick body-part reference). I'm going to find some of the movies mentioned in these posts and enjoy an evening with something new.

We liked Avatar a lot.... and then they tore down the theater, and put up a Rite Aid. Just what we needed, another pharmacy.

I've been hung up on The Martian lately. I read the book first, so I think my mind fills in a lot of extras. Score (and Commander Lewis' disco records) was a great fit.

Lot's of good ones here, +1 on The Arrival.

One of my favorites is a little known movie called "Final Countdown". Made in 1980 (with 1980 technology) had a list of stars, but I think it was a made for TV movie. I managed to purchase a DVD version and once a year I pull it out and watch it. I think it will be 2x this year... like tonight

The story line is The Nimitz aircraft carrier from the 80's entered a time warp near Hawaii and is transported to the same location near Hawaii on December 6th, 1942, what happens after that in the movie is interesting.

Trailer:

Don

You Navy people (politically correct?) will love it!!!

Not really a movie, but the HBO series "Band of Brothers" is the greatest thing I have ever seen. Absolutely amazing story of the real Airborne troops during WW2.

My all time favorite, ok, one of my all time favorites ( love Jurassic Park ), is Apollo 13. They have computers now that will fit in a single room! Just incredible how they were able to get those 3 guys home ..... has to be one of the greatest accomplishments in US history! I've watched it many times, and i still get teary eyed at the end .... makes you proud to be an American!

I haven't seen a "Good" movie since: It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.

Great movie with really an "all star" cast.
