Air Fryer: Anyone using one?
I have been seeing ads for Air Fryers on TV and was wondering a couple of things:
Do they actually work?
Is anyone using one in their RV?
What kind of amperage does it pull while it is on?
I don't want to get one and then find out it causes the air conditioner to stop working.
They look like this
Anyone have any experience with one?

In SC, we don't have to fry our air. It fries us. LOL

The Air Fryer was invented by Philips, it appears the Emeril one you linked to is an private label of the Philips product.
I happen to work for Philips, so at our national meetings we always have a "trade-show" area where all of our consumer products are displayed. So I have eaten quite a bit of food prepared I the air fryer; chicken, onion rings, fries, taquitos, etc. All are very good and taste the same as deep fried in oil. If you like fried food and cook it at home this is a great product for you.
As for power, the last specs I saw were 1400 watts -- which would be 11.5amps. That's a big draw and might affect your ability to run AC at the same time. Consider a hair dryer is typically 1675 amps for comparison.

We have one at home and use it quite a bit. Definitely preferred to microwaving any fried foods. Biggest drawback is the small basket but I bet you could load it up pretty full. Could work better on tater tots but otherwise it works as advertised. (And I'm skeptical by nature)
Haven't taken it camping, yet, but it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Our home convection microwave has this feature. We use it fairly often. It makes crispy food crispy. It definitely takes longer then just nuking it.

I ordered it...
Okay, I am a total victim of advertising,. I just ordered an Air Fryer, but not the one that is on the infomercials. They all pretty much lok the same, I bet they pretty much perform the same as well. I ordered this one (5 qt size)because the reviews of it from a number of sources were better than the one on TV.
I plan to use it both at home and on the road, supposing that it doesn't blow a fuse. It is a power hog for sure.
I will let you know how things come out!

Actifry
We have an actifry air cooker. I use it ALOT. It makes great wings, potatoes, french fries, etc. It will also cook fresh vegetables like cauliflower.
Can't cook a whole chicken in it tho...!

You can always use it outside your camper and plug it into the power pedestal. We use that a lot and just run a heavy duty extension cord to where we need to plug in.

Okay, the first results are in: Tried baking three chicken breasts in the fryer and they came out pretty darn good. They were slightly frozen so I needed to add some time but for the most part, it worked as advertised.
More to come...

Not sure it air frys but wife uses a Nuwave all the time. Keeps heat down on hot days and does a whole chicken or small turkey.

We recently bought into the air fryer family and have to say that we are overwhelmingly surprised at how well it performs. We went with a 5.3qt model for the larger size and aren't disappointed. We'll probably move this one up to the seasonal campground site to share meals with family and friends and get a smaller one for just the 2 of us at home. One of our biggest gripes is the heat that builds up in the TT when using the regular stove or oven. Between the new air fryer, portable induction cooktop, Weber grill, and Camp Chef griddle we shouldn't have to use the indoor unit at all. Happy camp cooking to all!
