Bumper Grill Suggestions

Hey All,

Recently purchased a Jayco TT. Love it. Would like to attach a grill to the bumper. Any suggestions on the attachment system that you use? My TT has the quick connect just FWD of the rear bumper. Thanks!

Our WH came with the Jayco 'option' of their "bumper-mount outside grill", we love it! Am betting you could purchase this through your Jayco dealer, or try Googling or eBay as there are also other 4" bumper-mount BBQ options out there.

We choose not to grill "attached" to the camper so to speak. Friends of ours have the swing out grill on their bumper. It does get grease all over and isn't easy to clean. We also have friends that have a tabletop grill that they love. Shop around and check reviews. Good luck!

My dealer says that it's a $400 option from jayco so I'm looking at other options also. I have a rear ladder so that complicates things.

I could buy a hose and sit the grill on a table but I envision my labrador running into the hose and pulling the grill off the table.

Our dealer didn't offer that option, saying that the grills themselves aren't very good, and instead to put the money toward a better tabletop grill. They would sell it if the buyer insisted on having it. Having used a RVQ for quite a while, I was ready to upgrade, so we bought a Weber Q1000 and did the mod to convert it to use the trailer's propane system. Money well spent, IMHO.

My white hawk 28DSBH came with a bumper mount grill and I have used it almost every time we went out, which was about every other weekend. I haven't had and issue with it splashing grease, as it is basically an extension of the rear bumper instead of right behind the rear bumper, which is great! Only bad part is that it's right outside the bathroom door, which kids are constantly going in and out of, but there is still room behind so it's not that big of a deal. I absolutely love mine but I do wish it was a bit bigger! Should cost around $200

I have a side mount grill that came with the trailer. I leave it home and prefer to use my Coleman Roadtrip grill. I just don't feel comfortable with a grill that close to the trailer. But that's just me.

Got this grill at our local Home Depot, about $180.00 as best as I can remember. Hoses and fittings from Amazon, maybe $200-$225 in the whole thing. Adapted to the 5er fitting. Best of all grill has 2 adjustable burners.

Our WH came with the bumper mount grill too. I use it all the time, almost daily on our Alaska trip this summer. When grilling fish, burgers, etc. in bear country I scraped and cleaned it thoroughly before stowing in back of truck. I did end up cutting off and removing the upper warming part; it just always got in the way when flipping stuff.

IMHO, very easy to clean ... Simple Green cuts the grease, then store it in a black trash bag and stash it with the picnic bench cushions and tablecloth. Very happy ... but it came with our TT, we didn't have to purchase it as an option. FYI, in bear country (Yosemite), we use the bear lockers and avoid doing any outside cooking, we cook inside and reheat frozen meals instead; saves time and allows for more enjoyment of the 'great outdoors'.

Our Whitehawk came with the bumper grill as well and I use it all the time. I bought an iron griddle and use the BBQ to do bacon and eggs, etc, outside. I know for Jayco it is a $400 option but the grill is actually a Sidekick Grill and you can buy them for about $135 on the internet. It comes with a wall/table top mount but you can get the attachment to do the bumper mount as well. It cleans up fairly easy. I just don't like the upper warming rack that is permanently attached to the cooking grate. Anything you put on it touches the inside of the grill cover. It is nice to use to rap up some corn in foil and cook them while you grill your food.
