Coffee Can Ice Cream

3/4 C whole milk
1 C 1/2 & 1/2
1/3 C sugar
1 t vanilla

Combine all ingredients in a 1 pound coffee can (or qt size ziplock freezer bag) Seal and place can (bag) in a 3 pound coffee can (or gallon size freezer bag) add ice and rock salt around small can (small bag). Seal large can (gallon bag) and roll on floor (or squish) for 10 minutes. Open can (bag) and stir. Reseal and roll (squish) for another 5 minutes. Enjoy. Kids love to do this and it really tastes pretty good. I have not tried the bag method but have heard it works good also.

We have tried the bag method with mixed results, I think my kids did not squish it long or hard enough! They were too anxious to eat it.

If you use half and half or spike the milk with some heavy cream the bag method works great. Make sure you use freezer bags as the lighter mil bags tend to tear if the kids get a little rough with it.
