Pit grill

Last time we went camping, we passed a site that had a pretty cool grill but I haven't been able to identify it. It was a large grate style grill and was mounted over the firepit. One pole in the ground with a series of holes, for adjusting the height I assume. Grate itself had a welded on piece of stock (maybe galvanized pipe) that slid down the pole at the corner. You could adjust the height by moving the pin up or down. The whole grill could swing out and away from the fire so you get your food off or to add wood to the fire. Pretty cool. I would've asked the owner but they weren't at the site at the time and I didn't want to just wander onto their site. Forgot to go back and ask about it. Anyone know of a grill like this? Could possibly be homemade..not sure.

We're using a Coghlan's tripod style now and it's a real pain to clean and pack.

They had them out at Stanislaus National Forest as well, so don't think they are homemade

Is the one, Automatic Chef? We have one of these and I can tell you that it is awesome. I used a tripod for many years and always struggled with certain aspects of it, especially leaning over a hot fire to run things. And don't even think about trying to pull a hot pot of beans off a tripod.

The first night we used the Automatic Chef, later that evening we took the tripod to the CG dumpster and trashed it.

It comes in a very nice carrying case that has places to keep cooking utensils as well.
