Hey Vernon - welcome to the Jayco Forum! Glad you found us.

One of the biggest things to look for are water leaks / roof condition. Take a good look all around at the ceiling, walls, inside compartments, etc and look for evidence of any damage or cosmetic repairs. Also - are the tires original? If so, they are probably due to be replaced so you can factor that into your haggling. How about the appliances? Verify they all work.

Here is a good thread that might help. It has several checklists for new trailers, but no reason why you can't use them for used. Obviously everything will not be in perfect shape, but it is a starting point.

Welcome to the Jayco forums.

Adding to Terry's comments....; When looking at any brand TH take a good look at the garage door checking for any structural damage from "overweight" toys (ramp is flat, hinge, cable connection points, etc.). Also check from the inside with the garage door closed and look for any daylight sneaking through.

Also take a look at the spring shackles. Toy haulers are heavy and the shackles sometimes get bent during sharp turns.

Also, if you plan on dry camping, make sure the generator is running. I just purchased a used 2010 Octane TH and the generator only had 1.5 hours, but did not work. I purchased it from Giant RV and they had to replace the carb for me as part of the purchase agreement.

I had an Onan 4000 in my Greyhawk and learned the hard way that if you do not run them often (at least monthly under load) or use fuel stabilizer, the carbs will gum up quickly and you have to replace them.

Just got back from my 2nd desert trip in the Octane and I am extremely happy so far. Good luck!

We have had our Talon since day 1 and now it needs a little bit refurbished. We can't seem to find the barrier netting that fits inside above kitchen and couch. We looked on the Obie.com site and they don't have the size we need. We also are having problems now with the landing gear. A fuse burnt out, we replaced it, and now it still doesn't work, so now i have to raise/lower manually which sucks! Anyone out there have any suggestions, we have taken it into the RV repair numerous times, they fix it, then it messes up again. I', ready to just call it good and sell it!
