Finally got around to adding a couple tie downs to the Octane. Where I wanted them was at the rear door right beside the in floor storage box so first thing to do is remove the box and see whats there
Tool box was framed with aluminum and there was a steel crossmember running between that and the ramp
I located where I wanted the tie downs and used the card board display tag as a template to cut the floor
I cut the flooring with a knife and the OSB subfloor with a chisel and found one of the aluminum cross members part way into the cutout. that took a bit of drilling and connecting the holes to "mill" the crossmember down but it worked.
After that is was as simple as drill the 3/8" mounting holes and bolt them up. The rear two bolts went thru the aluminum box tube crossmember and then into the steel crossmember, and the front two at the moment are just thru the sandwich floor construction. Tomorrow I plan on getting a pc of 1/4" steel plate about 5" x 10" to span between the rear two steel cross members so all four bolts are structural. Members are orientated [ ] so I can clamp both flanges.
