31UL Rear Window Question

Has anyone with this model installed a screen in the rear window? It appears that the frame has the cut out for the push handle to keep it open and the track to hold a frame. DW wants a screen there, so I have my marching orders.

Steve, I thought about it several times when I thought a cross breeze would feel good. Ended up turning on the fan by the door. That window is the emergency exit. May never use it but if I, the wife, or the dog need it, I may not remember how it came off.

Bob... Understand exactly what you're saying.

But most all RV's have seen have a screen in there emergency exit windows. I'm thinking one just like the one in the bathroom. It just snaps in place and is easily removed. Found a place that sells the parts to custom make your own. Would be around $30 complete.

Everything needed to make a screen for the rear window can be bought through "Pelland Enterprises" on-line. Kinro is the manufacturer of the components; radius corners, square corners, frame and clips. These are the same as the screen in the bathroom.

Haven't done mine yet since I will only be taken delivery of the coach this Saturday.

Steve, thanks again for the info. Keep us posted on the window screen placement.
Be sure to take your PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) list with you for the delivery. Make sure you understand how to operate all the systems. I have known some that videoed the process so they can review. A lot of info.......ask lots of questions..often takes 2-3 hours. Just take your time.
Also, WELCOME AND CONGRATULATIONS ....many happy trails ahead.

Darrell... Your welcome and I will post photo's once When done.

Know very well of the PDI process and will have them go through everything in detail. I'm a hands on guy, so the "what it does"will follow with "how does it do it". My two new area's will be the generator and the water station. Those two dial things for where the water is deverted has me

Can't wait to get this coach loaded and go

Steve, as you read through the threads that have been posted about the Precepts, you will find some/maybe all your questions answered but never hesitate to continue posting your questions. I have learned so much from questions from others and the ensuing discussions.
One note on the screens. I removed mine to clean and they are really flimsy. The small aluminum clips that hold them in place are easily bent so they need to be handled gently.
2 days to go...........Enjoy,
Darrell

Read Window Screen Built

Built a screen about 2/3 hours of time spent. Used Pelland Enterprise for parts. Bought parts for whole window screen with rounded corners but opt for only the lower half because of valance issues. Bought the screen clips($1.25) didn't use opted for Velcro to attach and black duct tape to seal around edges. Used the Hehr medium torque arm for opening and closing window. In case of emergency I believe a good push on the window would pop the opener sliders.
It works great provides nice breeze when top vents open when parked. Have only traveled with it closed.

chuck0799.... I got lucky for once. Was all ready to buy the parts needed as stated and on a wim talked my dealer into providing one since the handle had come loose. He didn't just make the screen, he actually replaced the whole window with one that was made with a screen. It's real nice having that window open at night to get some fresh air.

Has anyone had a problem with the window in the bathroom? I opened mine and now the 2 bars that close it have separated from the window. I tried pushing the 2 round buttons into the groove on the bottom of the window but they pop off when the window is almost closed. I can use any ideas.

I had the same problem with my dinette window. The dealer had to put them back in the track 3 times. Finally got the window replaced under warranty.

jhayes612, like newbie31UL said, there have been some that have had a similar problem with this type of window. Contact JAYCO CS if you still have the problem unresolved.
motorizedservice@jayco.com
I see you are on Precept Owners Group. Perhaps you could ask the question again on that forum.
If it has been resolved, let us know how it worked out.
Thank you
Darrell

Rear escape window

Uhoh, just dropped my rear escape window.
Didn't know it was just hanging on with a lip hinge.
Been all over the internet, can't find one. It has a casement type lock at the bottom.

Any help would be appreciated, off to home depot for plastic and tape.🙃
