Bed bracket not installed

Hi, I recently bought a 2016 Precept and when I received it the cover under the bed was not installed at the factory so my dealer fixed it. Now I am not certain how the bracket that holds the bed up is installed correctly.
Is there anyone out there who would be willing to send me an image of how the rod is installed under your be so I can compare it to mine?

My 2015 Precept 35UN does not have any bracket to hold bed up with. The bed is held up by gas struts. Your dealer should have known this???

Should have noted that i have a 31UL

Thanks, I should have noted that my Precept is a 31UL. The cover and bracket was in the coach when I got it but not installed. They way it was installed by my dealer made it very difficult to position the rod so I was hoping someone got their 31UL with it already installed by the factory and that would give me a clue how it should look.
Thanks

Hello Bill,

We purchased our 2016 Precept 31UL last October. I read the manual and realized that there should be gas struts under our bed as stated in the 2016 Precept manual, Section 12: Interior, Bed Storage. Instead, we have a 'bar' which is attached to the interior wall of the under bed storage which one would pull out and 'hook' into a metal hole which is attached to the bed lid (cover). (It reminds me of the same rod & hole under the hood of a car.)

We contacted Jayco and was told that not all Precept beds have the struts because of the way the bed is constructed and positioned i.e. facing front or facing sideways. Our MH could not have struts because the bed faces sideways. When our slide goes in and out, only the top of the bed moves. The bottom, or box, of the bed remains stationary. We had to go back to our MH to actually see what the Jayco rep was talking about and sure enough, our MH would not be able to use gas struts.

Hope that helps.

Could you take an image of how the bed support is installed and send it to me?

Bed Support

Bed Support in our 2016 Precept UL 31. Notice that when the slide is out and then in, the box of the bed remains in place. Only the top of the bed slides. Therefore, gas struts on this model cannot be used.

2016 29UR the same

We have a 2016 29UR and it uses the same bar system, for the same reason. No gas struts.

Thanks so very much

Thanks, someone who has the same rig sent me the images I needed. So I was able to install my support properly. The problem I had was that it was not installed by the factory and so the dealer did not really know how to install it. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

What you will find thru time is a 3/4 inch dowel cut to the proper length works better and is easier to use. In the 2014 model the article in FMCA mag. indicated the whole bed underside had storage but that disappeared between the time the article was written and we bought the Rig.
