Daytime Running Lights?

My Precept doesn't have daytime running lights, anyone else not have them? Thinking about installing some LEDs on the front, any idea where they would would plug into the wiring harness?

Thx,
Steve

Daytime lights are not needed IMO. If someone can't see this thing coming, they should be hit! None of the Precepts have DRLs.

You won't find any place to plug and play LEDs either. Splicing the harness is bad idea, especially the headlight circuit. Your best bet is to run a new circuit from a fused lead off battery.

Just be aware any of the add-on lights might not be approved DOT wise... They all may have to be removed to pass your next safety inspection...

All the F150 new truck like this add-on LED assy on the front of their truck won't pass Inspection here in Virginia haha... I always check with the local DMV before adding additional safety lights..

Back in the day we used to run the 4WD OFF-ROAD Jeeps and trucks and had extar lights etc. We could get away with them by having socks over them. They allow that around here anymore either haha... All SAFETY LIGHTS have to be DOT APPROVED...

They have rules on what front lights can be on whether you are using HIGH or LOW beams and of course they all have to be activated with the head light switches. Nothing manual allowed... All in the name of SAFETY I reckon...

I am not a fan of the drl's. Here is a perfect example of why:

I could see the dash lights were lit as well, which only adds to the issue. This was in Atlanta, Ga on our way to Orlando for spring break just over a week ago. Some friends who drove down seperately ran into the same thing with another vehicle. Of course those vehicles that have auto headlights are not an issue.

Instead of worrying about DTR's just flip on your marker lights.. not only will other vehicles see you coming but you will be more visible from the side and rear.

Welcome to Atlanta where there are a lot of idiots on the road that have no business behind a steering wheel. They were probably too busy texting.

I see it Mi also, just the first time I took a pic. Between the rain, construction, and sections of street lights not working I was just waiting for something to happen.

As for texting, they weren't, but another Beetle driver was in the same stretch for some time.

Doesn't matter where you are I guess....

OP, the parking lights are probably the best, and easiest option.

Good luck in your quest if you go for drl's! Just remember to turn on the headlights at not but.

I wish more people would follow one simple rule... If your wipers are on, your lights should be on too!

When I'm towing the fiver, I just turn the headlight on, no matter what the weather. I know, as large as my rig is, they should be able to see it. But remember, some people never see the train coming down the track either.
