Deadly Gas? - Engine Doghouse & firewall not sealed

We recently purchased a 2016 Jayco Precept 29UR and noticed that the cabin was a little loud and even noticed some breezes. So we decided to pull up the cabin carpet and install sound deadening materials.

To our surprise we noticed several large holes (2"x12") leading directly to the engine compartment (i.e. we could see daylight!). Wow I am shocked just how poorly built the engine cover (doghouse) and firewall are built and sealed. The only material between us and the engine and exhaust was the padding and carpet. This is really dangerous.

Here are two quick pictures.

I think you might get more from the dealership than here...

It's called 'Business' We want something less expensive, so they build it fast and cheap.

Laziness and poor quality

It is just plan laziness that causes things like not sealing an engine compartment. It is poor business and saves very little money in the end. In fact, poor quality usually costs more in the end. In this case a simple quality check and less than $5 worth of tape/sealant is all that is needed. No excuses.
