Do not really need to remove the existing black plastic gas "frame" to install chrome
I just installed the eTrailer Ultra-Fab chrome locking door but I really did not like the idea of totally removing the existing black plastic frame around the gas cap/area. Found that if I removed all the screws, sanded just a bit to shave off the excess plastic that remains around the holes, and then placed the "door" right on top I could easily drill new holes and using chrome self-tapping Phillips screws (same sized as the black ones I just removed), it all looked great. I might later seal around the outside with some caulk, but for now it actually looks just fine and does the job. And added benefit is I hated the way gas ran down the side of the coach if the gas didn't stop in time and now since I mounted the door with the lock at the top, the door hangs down and out just enough to redirect any gas away from the coach. Made a big appearance improvement IMO, and an extremely cheap and rewarding hack that took no time at all.
