Locking Gas Caps

Anyone using a locking gas cap on a Jayco Precept 31UL? If so, do you remember the make, model, etc.?

With gas prices especially going up, want to protect the 80 gallons of fuel.

Has anyone checked to see if you can siphon gas out of an F53?

I’m not in the habit of doing this but awhile back my daughters car was totaled by the insurance company. It had a full tank of gas which I thought I would empty but it was impossible to insert a small hose down into the fuel tank. It would stop part way down, I believe it was designed to prohibit siphoning gas from the tank.

We have used this

Stant 10510 Locking Fuel Cap https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000C7YQ2Y..._VxI4zb7SJ1HMD

on our 2017 Precept 35S. It works fine and fits. We had a thief take one off, but from the other post on here I wonder if they were able to get some gas out. That's your cap, but it would be great to know if the design secures our fuel; anyone know?

See here for a picture of the chrome locking gas door. Super easy hack.

Most newer vehicles have the "block" to prevent gas siphoning, even my boat has such a device on the filler neck. I would follow the filler neck to the gas tank and see how long it is. My Class C GH31ss had a 10-15' neck from the back wall to the tank located middle of the unit.

Ford F53 filler necks are anti-siphon. There's a screen at the bottom of the neck preventing hoses to be fed into the tank. You would need a hose the size of a drinking straw to siphon from the tank.

Nowadays, with vehicles being so sensitive to fuel quality, I would be more worried about what someone might put in your tank than taking fuel out. Fuel system repairs can be very expensive fix depending on what has happened.
