Mysterious part

After a year of wondering I figured it's time to ask. Found this in the bottom drawer of our 31ul. Can anybody tell me what it is and what it is for? Doesn't seem to work as a BBQ skewer.

I saw one yesterday that was almost to high to reach while sitting. His sleeveless shirt showed a armpit full of smashed bugs.
