New Precept Question
We took delivery of our new 2015 Precept yesterday and are very excited for adventures ahead! The first question I have is has anyone tried spraying silicon lubricant (or another suggestion) on areas that creak and squeak while underway? The window above the door seems to be the biggest offender and I wondered if a little lubrication might quiet things.
Also, does anyone have a link to the OBD2 codes for this vehicle? I haven't done a huge search but figured they are the standard Ford V10 codes but wanted to confirm.
Thanks in advance!

Well, first your second question, OBD II codes are industry standard with places for each manufacturer to customize. Just Google OBD II [the code] and then the make and model. You'll find the description and lots of people's experiences.
I like the silicone jelly used on pool O-rings for lubricating rubber gaskets. While not totally weatherproof, it is waterproof. Apply sparingly and reapply as needed.

Welcome AugerN and we hope to see you over at the Precept Owners Group!
I too have recently developed the issue with the window above the door creaking and am not sure how to fix that either. Would be interested to see if anyone else does.

I would think if a fixed window is creaking, it would have to be the seal drying out; no?
My door is too far behind the drivers seat to tell, so I haven't noticed anything like that yet, but the seal would be my first guess.

A silicon lubricant that specifically says safe for use on plastics, etc. would be worth trying. Really have nothing to lose, and much to gain if it works. I believe WD-40 makes a silicon lubricating spray for that purpose. (Actually saw it advertised while I was waiting at the tire shop today and the commercial showed them spraying in various locations on an RV including window frames)

We had the same problem with the window above the door. The dealer completely removed it and I believe put in a new rubber gasket and then reinstalled it. No problems since.

The silicon lubricant worked wonders! Considerably more quiet. Now if only I could spray it on every spot that creaks!

Auger - Did you use the WD-40 Silicone Spray and where exactly did you spray it around the window? Mine is driving me crazy!
Thanks!

McGarrett50, I used Liquid Wrench silicon lubricant. I actually went to purchase the WD40 version but PepBoys was out. This worked just fine and I have found several other uses to include quieting the bathroom hinges which seemed to bother everyone at night.
I just held a paper towel close to the area I was spraying and sprayed a small amount around the entire area where the gasket meets the glass. I of course had to clean a fair amount of overspray and clean the window. Also the smell lingers for several hours so be advised. Good luck!
