Precept 31 UL
I never owned a motor home I've driven and been on two trips as a kid in a class c. We are looking at a 2015 31 UL with 5000 miles on it so no warranty Im handy and can fix almost anything on the TT or 5er we owned. Has any one had any major problems with this unit ? Can you tell me what you are happy with it and disappointed with it ?

Hi William. I love everything about my 31 UL. I've had small problems but nothing major. It might be interesting to check out the repair history on you unit, but I think you'll like it. See the posts on the Precept Owners community and you'll find over a 144 other folks that love their Precepts.

Thanks Bob did you add any accessories to your coach Air Max vents or anything like that? Have you had any problems with the water heater or wondering front ends?

I've not made any additions. Haven't felt the need. I don't feel like my front end wanders, but then, I am not a high speed driver. Try to stay at 60mph. I know some owners don't like the tankless water heater but I believe they are mostly boondockers. We are full hook up people and love our long showers and the tankless.

I'm a complete newbie and the 31UL is our first RV of any kind. I may add we love it! Great floor plan IMO.
We have not, and do not plan to dry camp, being hooked up to city water supply we have no problem with the tankless heater. I have read in many places that while boondocking the tankless heater doesn't perform well (could actually be the water pump).
I found my coach to wonder some while driving. It seemed to be worse as speed increased. I did add a Safe T Plus to mine (I made that part of the deal). Now I'm perfectly fine up to 65mph, I keep it between 60 and 65.
I'm sure the big DP ride and handle much better, many of them have told me they drive like 63mph so there must be something to it.
Good luck!
Steve

AC power converter under bed
I love the way my 2015 Precept 31 UL rides and handles. No major mechanical problems with the rig. However, Jayco put the AC power converter under the bed and it hums all night long. Even when the cooling fan is not on the unit hums. I have seen on this forum that other people also are bothered by this problem but not everyone. So I do not know if this problem is unique to some bad power converters or people can sleep as it does not bother them. Before purchase plug in the 110V power and listen in the bedroom. I wish I had done so, I may not have purchased.

Is this heard when dry camping? I haven't heard this, we only use shore power or the gen while rolling.

To find the Precept community, Click on "community", under that "social groups", Scroll down to the picture of a Precept and click on it. If that doesn't work, Darrell can send you a link. My skill set doesn't allow.

Love our "Moose"
We luv our "moose"/31 UL. The layout is a lot better than many high end
Models (why do they put the tv in odd viewing spot). Our seems to handle
Real well. We haven't had to,do any mods. One suggestion is to increase
The psi on tires higher than original 83-85... We have our at 95 or so.
To find the sweet spot.
Good luck and keep enjoying...
Mike

William - Congratulations on the first step to your Precept. We had never owned an RV at all before our Precept and 20 months & 15,000 miles later, we are still very happy with our coach. I find the driving stability not to be an issue and have been towing a car for a year now.

William, I assume you investigated whether your Jeep can be towed all four down. The answer to your question is; if you are towing all four down, you cannot back up. If you are using a dolly, you can. It won’t be easy and you should have a spotter. I see more Jeeps than any other vehicle being towed. You made a good decision. Good luck and good travels.
