A little more expensive, but I like the zipper feature. If needed, your suppose to be able to unzip the main portion, and roll up the small section with the awning.

We just acquired one last summer, and only got a chance to put it up once. It's not the newer zipper one, so if we need to put up the awning for a storm, it has to come off. Also had to get a double track insert, so we can put up awning lights, too. All in all, it worked great on keeping out the sun, and it felt more comfortable.

Thanks for the feedback. Looking forward to blocking out this florida afternoon sun.

Wonderful RV park and site, but we have a western exposure on the awning side.

tip:For anyone going to florida. Try to avoid western exposures if at all possible.

How will you attach it? It's made to slide into the slot on the awning where the LED lights are.

We got one of the zippered ones last year for our 15 foot TT. Had to leave it with the unit when we sold it.

Love that the zipper part slides into an available slot,,,Jaycos have that slot, too. Only problem with the Jayco Greyhawk 31DS is that the awning is about 2 feet higher than our old TT awning and I can't reach the zipper from the ground. Getting the removable panel off in a quick wind burst is going to need quick action...step stool/ladder FAST, unzip, roll up awning.

The awning screen is so worth having as it really does cut the UV rays and heat.

We'll be in Florida in Dec, but have a south-east awning side. But we're still going to use a screen.

The slider has two slots. One for the LED lights, and one for the awning.

I know that because I bought an awning at a flea market for $15.00. Not very nice, but helps block sun.

We have a 31 ds and put carefree 15X9 shade on last week.
3 foot section rolls up with awning no problem.
The zip on 6 foot part goes on easy with no need for a ladder.
Makes a big difference in Shade and Temps.

Used the non-zipper version last year

Bought a similar product last year about 16 x 8 to use on our west facing awning. We were in Sorrento, FL at Wekiva Springs campground but failed to notice the direction when we picked our campsite. The evening sun was really hot from mid-February through March.

We are going back to Wekiva in January '17 with our new 35S and hopefully I can get a site that faces east.

The shade worked fairly well until the temp got up in the 80's. I'll take it back with us in January but hopefully we won't need it and not sure how I'll attach it to the awning. Looks as if there are no slots available for the light/awning hangers in the awning roller.

We passed through the Villages on our way home in March, nice looking area. If you like flea markets check out Mt. Dora, we go about every other week. Looking forward to January and our first really long road trip in the 35S.

Just remember every RV has the other side to deal with also. You now have the awning, turn the RV around and you have DARK GLASS and the top of slides which all get very hot and radiates into the RV. We had to get outside window shades or the AC was kicking on before 11 am.

Here are some pictures.. window covers, Temp of window frame before shades and after shades. If you are interested we got ours at http://www.rvtoystore.com/

East facing not a large problem

I thought about that but the morning sun didn't begin heating the fifth wheel until 10AM or after back in Feb and March due to the tree line. I'm hoping we can find an east facing site that will give us a similar environment.

We received the awning, and it preforms as advertised.
If anyone is expecting total blockage from hot Florida sun, they should stay up north.
But the screen is a big improvement, and zipper function worked like a charm when the winds kicked up, and I needed to remove it to retract the awning.
A small section remains in the awning tube that can roll up with the awning.
On the 2017 31UL there is an additional channel adjacent to the LED light channel that accepts the screen.
I would recommend it.

I you like flea markets ( I'm neutral ) the Webster flea market near Bushnell is one of the largest in the country. It's open on Mondays. We went there with another couple, spent most of the day there and only saw a part of it.
I enjoyed the produce section. Lots of unusual stuff, if you like trying new things.
Still haven't got around to cooking the purple sweet potatoes.

I have the Precept 31UL 2017, thanks for all the posts as I am looking for a shade for our travels. We live in Florida so we are well aware of the sun and heat. Can you leave it off the ground for about a foot or so - that way the breeze can still come in.

Shade screen

Yes, I have mine about a foot of the ground for air circulation. I can also unfasten it and roll it up with the awning in the event of a windy day. Also, if I'm going to be gone from the coach for an extended number of hours, I retract the awning, just in case. I can post a picture of it to my album, if it would help.
