Toad Vehicle Brake System

Has anyone installed a Blue Ox Autostop Supplemental Brake System or NSA Ready Brake Brute Elite? I will be towing a 2007 Honda Fit Manual transmission. Any insights on towing the Honda Fit.

I have the blue ox patriot and I like it a lot. It's lightweight and easy to hook up.

I use the Ready Brute braking system. However, I really have no way of knowing how effective it is. I know it pulls the brake pedal on the toad but don't have any way of knowing how much actual braking action is sent to the wheels of the car. I went with the inertial braking system because it seemed like less hassle than other methods and looked like it could be effective.

That being said, I don't know that any more or less is known about how truly effective any of the other braking systems are either. Is the motorized system that hooks to the brake pedal any more effective than having a cable going to the brake pedal. Perhaps somebody else on this forum can provide more solid answers than I can.

We tow a Jeep Wrangler and use the SMI Stay and Play Duo brake system. It may require a more detailed install but once in you don't even know you're hooking your brakes up. One plug tail lights and brake system.

I liked the idea that it activates your power brakes, similar to to when the car is running and your driving it.

There are many good systems out there, you need to weigh what you want, how difficult or expensive the install, etc.

I will say one thing; The first trip we towed our Wrangler with the brake system installed it saved us an accident, I have no doubt. We were cruising at 45 mph in the left lane with our turn coming up in about a mile. All of a sudden a little red car in the center lane pulled in front of us and came to a complete stop quickly. She had decided she needed to make a left turn

I was all over our brakes, we stopped like maybe a foot from her rear bumper. From our coach I couldn't see her bumper or trunk, only the back window, we were that close!

I can completely confirm our brake system was working, it actually felt like the towed was pulling us back. Upon releasing our brakes when the event was over I could feel my towed brake disengage and let go of us.

I can't say no other system works as well but I can say ours works extremely well. At my fuel stop a mile up the road another RV pulled in, they were about 300 feet behind us, saw the entire incident, he told me there was no way I didn't eat that car alive.

Good luck with your decision,
Steve
