What Do You Wish You Would Have Noticed At Delivery

I am going to post this here and in the Precept Owners group. We take delivery of our new 35S this Saturday. We are not novice RV'ers. This will be our 3rd RV (tent trailer, travel trailer and now the Monster!!). The difference is, there are a lot more systems and gadgets here than on past rigs.

So, my question is, what did you realize you should have asked about, checked, learned more about, etc... when you did your walk through. I know things will always be missed, and I'm not worried about little things as my husband can fix just about anything.

I am making a list of things I don't want to miss, so if you have suggestions....GO!!

Thanks!

Two things I missed during PDI were:

Water heater didnt work. (Doh!). I called Girard directly when I realized it. They were able to help me trouble shoot the problem and got it working. The issue was a bad wire crimp between the control panel and the water heater.

The other thing I missed was the Ford Owners manuals. None to be found in the rig. You get one or two blue jayco pouches full of manuals and I assumed they were in there. I purchased them online once Jayco said they would reimburse me.

Someone posted a large PDI checklist here on JOF.

Hope this helps

Old adhesive on the outside of the trailer around the windows. I still have some on there after 2 years.

The older fifth wheels had a fairly straight forward method of manually bringing slides in. Not so anymore, they are hidden all over the place and very few if any manufacturers provide that knowledge or sometimes I wonder if they even think about it.

Many dealers don't even know. I know because I had to figure it out on my own in a cg one Sunday morning before leaving.

Unhappy AC power converter hum under bed

I cannot believe Jayco put the AC power converter/batter charger under the bed. It hums all night long. As much as I love the way my 2015, 31UL Precept handles I would not have purchased it had I been able to spend one night in the rig before purchase.
I would trade it in now, but will lose my shirt so I am stuck with the unit.

I got the impression during the PDI that I knew more about RVs than the guy showing me the unit. So I basically concentrated on things that were unique to this particular trailer. But I wish I had noticed that when the slide was in, the edge of the table rubbed up against the side of the cabinet both were getting damaged, but the dealer fixed it once I let them know.

I was only given one ignition key at the PDI. I went on a merry chase for an elusive unicorn when the dealer directed me to get another from the Chevy dealer and they would reimburse me.

I also failed to notice that the kitchen screen window and pole in the shower were missing. Dealer has supposedly ordered those from Jayco and is shipping directly to me.

Floozie, check if you have a couple of mounting rings above the shower surround. If so, there is supposed to be a removable rod that goes in there. It's to use the shower area as another closet while traveling or to hang damp items, etc.

Thanks everyone for the responses. All went well at the PDI. Since bringing our 35S home we have noticed a couple of things so we are making a list. We are taking her out for the weekend of May 13th and will try all components. All in all, everything was great and our dealer is amazing. If anyone is looking on the West Coast, especially the Pacific Northwest, I have a great recommendation.
