So I am going to start this thread to display some mods I am going to be completing in the next week or so. I have some time on my hands so here goes nothing!

So far the following parts have arrived;

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

4 - New Kitchen sink faucet replacement.

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

5 - Water pump silencing kit (Although my pump is pretty quiet and I may decide not to mess with it)

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

6 - MOR/ryde Heady Duty Shackle kit

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

12 - Camco RV stove top cutting board

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

13 - Diamond group 16'4" multi color LED awning light kit. I will be replacing the factory LED white light strip as it doesn't work properly anyway,...and I like colours

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have more stuff on the way but this is on my to do list this weekend if I can get them all done. I will try to document it the best I can.

So today the first series of mods which includes an important one for me was completed. A new hitch was built, bolted and welded to the frame. A 7 pin light connector was added and I moved the rear propane line to a better spot on the rear.

Quick update as well. I decided to change out my cheap ceiling fan in the bathroom to the Maxxair 7500k deluxe fan with remote. I also ordered the black Maxxair 2 vent for the bedroom vent as I don't want the white ones after all. Anyone want to buy 2 - maxxair 2 vent covers? Lol

I had a spare few mins this afternoon and decided to get one of the easy ones out of the way. #3 on the list.

3 - Oxygenics Shower head replacement.

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I installed one of these in my last fifth wheel and loved it. I really like the "Interrupt" button incorporated into the new system. I don't recall my last one having that. This way you can keep the temp setting you like on the dual knob faucet and just turn the shower head itself off.

Well this evening brought me some extra time

I was able to wire in my Progressive Industries Surge Protector,..#1 on the list.

1 - Progressive Industries 30 amp surge protector with remote

https://www.rvpartscanada.com/index....2#.V2zMuFcvvHg

I followed the lead of several others on here in terms of location. However I mounted it to the side wall using some wood cross members I cut. The install location I chose worked perfect!! I also secured the shore power cord in 2 separate places to the floor so when I get all rammy pulling the cord out of the storage location it doesn't stress the connection to the Surge Protector.

Number 2 on my list was the Furrion High Speed Observation/backup camera.

2 - Furrion High Speed wireless observation camera

https://www.amazon.com/Furrion-FOS48...ywords=furrion

I struggled with where to mount it as there is minimal clearance between the window for the top bunk and the clearance lights. I settled on removing the middle clearance light. Now, the camera has power when the fifth wheel is plugged into my truck and the lights are turned on. Not a bad thing I guess seeing as some have problems locating a shut off switch to the units that are pre wired for a camera. Mine was not.

I had to remove about 8 feet of wire in total from the rats nest that was tucked up in there. More soldering and connecting than I anticipated but it all work out in the end

The kit doesn't come with mounting screws but I had some 1" stainless screws from another project so at least I didn't have to run to town for supplies.

As posted in this other thread http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f3...ons-37483.html I completed the install of the Accumulator tank today which is number 7 on my list.

7 - Shurflo Accumulator tank

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I decided not to do the pump silencing kit install so I had the parts from that to do my Accumulator tank install without having to run into town for supplies. The job looks ugly and unprofessional but is functional for the time being. I do plan on cleaning it up and relocating the pump and tank to a more accessible location with a cleaner and more professional looking install.

I am also currently working on the install of the awesome new sink faucet Stay tuned for that one!

So, how is the system working? Can you show what the camera angle / screen shows when the system is on? I'm looking for something and would prefer wireless if its really works well. I already have the rig per-wired for power & I have the shut-off switch inside the battery compartment.

Thanks,
Dave...

Well this one took me longer than I anticipated as well. It turns out the lock nut on the bottom of the single handle faucet was a little wider and I had to trim out a little of the underside of the countertop for it to work.

All in all the install was pretty easy. The only down side was I needed to go and buy some rubber washers to connect the plastic PEC pipe elbow connection to the stainless steel connection the faucet came with. I had it hooked up last night at almost midnight but when I pressure tested it,...the connections were leaking.

2 cheap rubber washers from home depot fixed that this morning What a HUGE improvement from the factory faucet!!

4 - New Kitchen sink faucet replacement.

I'm also interested in the Furrion system. I am looking to install some type of camera, this looks to be the easiest, though a little more expensive than I was hoping for.

Well today brought on some hot, humid and sunny weather, so what better way to spend my time then installing what I thought would be an easy and awesome gadget! Number 13 on my list of mods is the Diamond Group 16'4' MULTI COLOR LED AWNING LIGHT KIT.

13 - Diamond group 16'4" multi color LED awning light kit. I will be replacing the factory LED white light strip as it doesn't work properly anyway,...and I like colours

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Looking at the kit it was complete. Now my last fifth wheel had the Dometic LED light kit with IR remote and I loved it! I figured that was 4 years ago so things may have gotten better since then. Boy was I wrong.

I have to stand no more than 5 feet away from the IR antenna and point the remote right at the thing. The Dometic kit, I once was 320 feet away and my remote still worked!!!

Anyone thinking of tackling an awning light strip upgrade, it is actually fairly easy. The nice Amish folks at Jayco don't remove the adhesive hacking on the white light strips they put on at the factory. One hard yank and the entire 16 feet of light strip slid out of the factory rail system. That was the easy part.

Finding a good solid positive and negative was the challenge. I figured I would just hook up to the wires used for the factory kit. Well I zero power to the positive lead. I tried to chase the issue down but got frustrated after 2 hours and decided to tie into the basement light.

Other than that the install went pretty smooth.

I meant to take more pictures, but at times was focused and frustrated trying to find a positive lead that actually had power running through it.

Not really a mod I guess but more of a handy accessory? It comes with predrilled holes for the various styles and sizes of RV stoves, non slip backing and rubber mounting feet with slots to fit over the stove top grate or whatever you call that.

One more off the list

12 - Camco RV stove top cutting board

I have the furrion camera installed the same way. Removed the middle light and installed using the running lights power. I just got back from a 1500mile trip and the camera worked fine. Signal strength does go up and down and only a few times did I notice the camera lagging for a few seconds. From the display to the camera is close to 45'. I would recommend it, worth the cost. Think I paid $349 off of amazon.

Update on Awning LED lights

Well after sleeping on the issue of the crappy remote system that came with my awning lights, I decided to reaserch some options. I came up with this.

https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...nel/1261/2932/

I confirmed through tech support at Super Bright LEDs that this remote is in fact compatible with my system. I ordered it along with replacement bulbs for the entire exterior clearance, running, brake and signal lights of my 5ver. I will make a seperate post on which lights I ordered for where.

Exterior LED upgrade

So while I was looking at remote control upgrades for the new awning lights, I decide to improve safety on the exterior lighting of the coach. I contacted Ron at Super Bright LEDs who was very helpful in deciding what to get in terms of clearance lights on the front, sides and rear of the coach. Here is what he suggested.

These are replacements for the 194 series of bulbs that are used in the clearance, side lighting and the one under the stairs. In total I ordered 13 of these. 7 in Amber and 6 in Red.

https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...rofit-car/206/

For the Brake/signal lights, he recommended these ones to replace the factory 3157 bulbs.

#9 on my list is now complete as I had a little time this evening so I tackled the Screen door hinge kit and the door handle/push bar or whatever you call it. Both were pretty easy. I am somewhat let down by the springs for the door closure kit though. I guess it would keep the door closed ish,...but not what I expected. The directions didn't help whatsoever but Youtube came through for me!! Lol

9 - Camco Screen door closure kit

Well this was a pretty easy install. Just make sure if you are using a level to level the handle that your RV is level!! Lol. Anyway I figured it out and I really like this handle! This should be a standard thing I think.

One more checked off of my list!!

10 - Camco screen door cross bar

New Maxxair Deluxe Fan w/remote

I decided to change out my cheap ceiling fan in the bathroom to the Maxxair 7500k deluxe fan with remote.

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The instal took a total of about 4 hours but I am slow and didn't want to screw anything up. I Used Dicor 501 self levelling sealant and Dicor Butyl seal tape.

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Step one was taking the old interior moulding off,..very easy. Only 4 screws. That exposed the wires which I cut. On my rig the white is the ground and the black is the positive.

step 2 was removing the old self levelling sealant from around the screws and the old fan lip. Removed the screws, used a bee keepers tool to pry the rest of the sealant off and the old fan free.

step 3 was applying butyl tape to the new sealant ring/lip for the new fan and screwing it down. At this point I applied the self levelling Dicor to all of the screws and around the entire perimeter of the lip or whatever it is called. I also used this time to inspect the rest of the sealant and repaired about 30 spots that were cracking or had been not sealed correctly by the factory. Get up on your roofs guys and inspects these!!

step 4 was soldering the connections for the new fan.

step 5 place the new fan on the seal and secure with the 4 supplied screws.

the roof portion is now done and onto the inside.

Tuck the wires up into the roof and secure the trim piece with the 4 supplied screws.

DONE!! WHOA!! What a difference from the old crappy thing that was in there!! Amazing!!!
