29.5 Thermostat Upgrade

Not much of a mod, but it still counts. Very easy swap-out, since its a wire-for-wire swap. Takes all of 5 minutes to complete. Just makes it much easier to see / know the temp and your adjustment. The slider stinks and I don't know why Jayco wouldn't just install these at the factory instead. I mean really, go ahead and charge me $50 more over the stock model, no problem!

Best price I could find. Only took 4 days to get it.

I did the same to mine. Starting in 2012, some lines had them and others did not. Maybe they have a tractor trailer full of them that they need to get rid of.

I know I have 2 that are no longer used.

Did same mod after returning from long winter trip south. The slider worked fine, but was as others have said difficult to adjust to a desired set point and had wide temp swings between the on and off cycles. The digital is in fact a wire to wire swap, but be careful to mark the wires coming out of the wall so you can match the Tstat wires back to the same wall wires. The wall wires are not a color match to the tstat wires but the digital and the slider model have the same colors so the reinstall is easy if you mark things and know which wall wire the red, green, white, etc s/b connected to. I wrote down the original combinations and then disconnected one wire from the old stat at a time and reconnected the same color back to that wire. Beyond simple. Got mine from Amazon at around $60 with prime shipping.

I believe my X213's thermostat is used for heat only. Is this right? There's only 1 switch for on/off and a slider for themperature. The heat is ducted but the A/C is central. Would an upgraded thermostat give me the option for fan setting and speed?

I did mine a few months ago too. In real cold weather the large swing of the analog thermostat would constantly make the camper go from hot to cold again. It was very bad as the camper would bleed heat off so fast in sub 20 degree Temps. The digital one is much better.

Just did the very same mod last weekend. I did one wire at a time but yes, it is wire for wire. Dewinterized as well. Headed to Mount Rushmore at the end of May.

Completed the changeover this afternoon. Took about 10-15 minutes. As everyone mentioned it's wire for wire.

[QUOTE=Aero_Dave;397847].... Very easy swap-out, since its a wire-for-wire swap. Takes all of 5 minutes to complete.

Thats what i thought it would be too...seems the installer pulled all the slack in the cable up to the AC unit after installing the original thermostat. I couldnt pull enough wire back to get to the wire nuts. Had to drop the AC cover and disconnect the wire up there to get enough slack. Anyway, worth the trouble, i like the digital one much better.

Just did mine this week. Like the new Thermostat but wish it was backlit. If I get up at night to adjust the temp I have to turn on a light which is on the other side of the room.
I know- whine, whine, wine :-).
