A quick 100 lb weight loss

Where we only dry camp we decided to swap out the A/C with Max fan and added vent cover so we could have fresh air during rain.
Carried A/C units for 12+ years and never turn on so thought best time is while camper is new, wife said she had more confidence in my work than
assemblers anyway. EricClick image for larger version

You must have some decent weather where you live. Where I live, A/C is essential. The heat and humidity can be brutal here in the Ohio River Valley!

6 days ago it was 42 for high, today 93. It averages between 65 and 85 most of our trips and we camp mostly in thick woods so the temps can be down 10 degrees from the surrounding area. Eric

I wish the A/C was an option when I bought my trailer but they were all equipped with it. It would have been nice to save the money and the weight.

In the 20 years I've been camping in British Columbia I can't remember a single time I wish I had AC. Water proof tarps and awning plus a furnace sure but not AC.

A gutsy move but I would probably have second thoughts replacing my A/C unit if it ever failed. We too do alot of camping off the power grid and only use the air conditioner at regular electric camp sites or here at home when parked in CAMP BACKYARD.

The extra weight on the roof of our OFF-ROAD POPUP sure puts a strain on our electric roof DC winch.

Of course the wife would most likely be the deciding factor hehe...

What size/kind is the A/C you took off? Any interest in selling it? I've been looking at adding a second unit to my camper for a while now. Mine barely keeps up in the Texas heat.
