Accumulator Tank Install Questions

Hey all,

So not only am I new here, but I am also new to doing mods myself instead of having an RV shop do them for me. I recently purchased an accumulator tank from amazon (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and want your feedback as to how it should look and preform.

I installed it today using the "Pump silencing kit" I had purchased and decided not to use on my water pump itself. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The install went pretty easy, but it looks really messy and unprofessional in my opinion. I want to change that. My questions are as follows;

1 - In the instructions, it says to install it so that the valve is facing up and the inlet and outlet are on the bottom. Why is this? It didn't specify in the instructions.

2 - Do I need to pressurize it using a air supply of some kind? The manual says pressure it up to 30psi,..is that what has been working for you guys? I haven't yet checked the pressure using a tire gauge. I wanted to come on here and ask some questions first.

3 - What would you change about the way I have installed it if it was you doing it?

Thanks for your help guys.

Its been a long time since I installed my accumulator tank and silencing materials so I do not remember the particulars but here is a pic of the finished mod:

And here is what the loud little beast looked like before the mod. It was mounted to the wall underneath the kitchen sink which has the bedroom on the other side, so the pump vibrated right through that wall.

So by looking at that, I see no real reason why the pressure testing valve needs to be facing up. If that is the case, I can make a way cleaner install. Thanks for that Crabman! I did look at that post when I searched my questions, but it is nice to have you re-confirm what I suspected all along.

Yeah that setup was installed in 2010 and is still running fine so it will work.

They recommend the inlet/outlet down to insure it drains completely when winterizing.

Working with PEC pipe is simple, if you need to reconfigure some to neaten-up your finished product. Most places that rent tools will rent you the clamping pliers necessary to make clamped connections, or you can purchase the more expensive "shark-bite" connections... I bought the clamping pliers, and I keep then in the trailer with a small bag of assorted fittings, and a 4' piece of PEC tubing as a "repair kit".

Just don't have the pressure valve facing down as some point in the future you might have to add air to the tank again
