Added bedroom light switch and outlet

I would always go into the bedroom and seeing the slide switch, I would want to use it to turn the light on. So I just added a switch. I did not want to surface mount up the wall and across the ceiling so I figured out how to run the wires inside the wall and roof.



The slide switch had some big wires one of which went up and over bye the bathroom vent fan. So I was able to tape a wire to it, pull the wire up to the vent were I added another wire, lubed them up with a little liquid soap and pulled both back down the wall. I then was able to get the pair of wires pulled over to the bedroom light.

I also added an outlet over bye the chest so the DW could put the alarm clock and what ever on the chest. Here I did use the surface mount because it was behind the chest as you come into the bedroom and not as noticeable.

Nice mod. All the bedrooms in these trailers should have wall switches standard IMO.

Great idea. It took me almost a year to not push the slide switch. The slide switch is in the same spot as the light switch on our old 5er. Old habits are really hard to break.

Installed a bedroom light switch in mine after the second trip. Everything in the trailer has a switch for the main lighting until you get in the bedroom. Install was easy, ran the wires from the light to the roof outlet for the tv power then fished them down the wall through the hole of the slide wiring. Once the wires were pulled to the slide switch hole I used a jig saw to cut a square hole in the wall to flush mount a flat toggle switch like at home. Cost $12 and 30 minutes of my time, but well worth it!

Must be a 5'er thing because all my rooms have switches. BR, BH, kit, LR and bathrooms. That sucks having to crawl on the bed or feel around the ceilings all the time.

What does drive me nuts is my outside panic lights and yellow porch light are all ganged up in a 4 switch cluster with the LR light switch. Almost always during a trip it leads to someone turning on an exterior light at night and me not noticing until later. I don't care so much on my side of the unit I just don't like being the reason for my neighbors ambiance being taken away. Having a little LED to notify you of a light being on would be key!
