Adding a fan or skylight? Replace AC or a new hole?

Our 19xud is darker than we'd like so I'd like to add either a skylight or a vent. We had popups for 7 years before buying this and only once wished we had an AC as we generally camp in Northeast and in shaded state parks. So, I'm thinking of replacing the AC with light source. Would a vent (with a cover) add sufficient light or is a skylight much better? It seams more versatile as I can add a fan to it. We have both a skylight and vent in the bathroom so I can't tell how much light is provided by each. The other question is should I replace the 60+ lb AC with it since it's added weight we never use. Or do I contact Jayco for schematics and add another hole? Done properly I think there's less chance of a vent/skylight leaking than a heavy AC unit.

Thanks,
Ray

The a/c opening is usually 14x14 just like a vent so the swap would be easy. My concern would be a future sale or trade in.

That's why I was also contemplating cutting a new hole for either a vent or skylight. It seems 14 x 14 is not a very common size for skylights though.

What Grumpy said ^^^
You should keep that AC if you plan on selling the trailer. Of course now you have to store it
I guess you could sell it and then just forget about it.

would a vent with a white MaxAir cover still throw off a lot of light or am I better off with a skylight?

We have both. The skylights provide significantly more light than the vents with a white MaxAir cover. Whenever possible, we let in all the sun possible.

But in hot weather, we block the sun (and heat) through the kitchen and bath skylights with interior reflective material. The MaxAir covered vents don't pass nearly as much light and heat so we don't block them.

Standard

I thought 14x14 was very much the standard size for vent openings so you should be able to find skylight no problem.
