Another 29.5 Eagle Mod ;-)

OK, so after camping out last weekend I realized that while cooking at the rear, outside kitchen I couldn’t really hear the Red Sox game on the radio. The factory outside speakers are too far away, near the main door to really hear without turning the volume up, but that might bug the neighbors. So I decided to add a 2nd set of speaker near the rear kitchen. Found the exact matching pair of speaker here: 2 RV Marine Gloss Black Wavy Silver 5 1 4" Flush Mount Speaker UV Waterproof | eBay
So with some speaker wire in-hand, a drill and a few tools, only took about 30 minutes

I was able to pull some of the underside staples down enough to get the speaker wire behind them and re-tapped them back in.

I measured the factory set of speaker, which are 67” apart and that just happens to be the perfect distance to put the new set, just outside of the kitchen when pulled-out!

Now I can hear the music or ballgame while cooking. So for $27.95 and 30 minutes of my time, this setup looks factory installed.

Dave...

Good idea how you get the wiring into the trailer to wire to stereo that must have been a challenge, I just bought the same trailer

As you will quickly learn, this isn't a high fedelity system. You don't even have left & right independent speaker controls. So I just tapped off the left outdoor speaker. Ran the wires under the frame lip. I just needed sound back by the kitchen & now I have it. Maybe someday I'll upgrade the entire system to something better.

Yeah no kidding not a high end system but decent enough I will eventually upgrade unit and change speakers also, we use our portable Bose for around the fire, just picked up our trailer a week ago and using it for 3 weeks coming up see how she makes out I love the outdoor kitchen idea

Sure, no problem. That's why I post my mod's so that others who like them, can use them. I also love to see what others have done and if I like their mod's, I'll just copy them as well.
I love Simple, Low-cost, Function-able mod's the best.
I'm an Engineer, so I (feel like I have too) mod Everything.
Why, I don't know I just like things the way I think they Should be!
I've been doing it for so long, whenever I grab the Drill, the wife just
and walks away.
I think the last time she really got worried (until I was done and everything looked great) was when my brand new 2005 Mustang GT was less then a week old. I was in the garage Drilling holes in the hood! She asked 'WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO YOUR BRAND NEW CAR!'
Of course I said, 'Installing Hood Pins, Every race cars Needs them'
Sure do miss that car!

LOL, my wife just shakes her head most times I grab a tool. Nice car btw, I always liked Mustang's.

Slight change of topic, I notice your rear stabilizers aren't the scissor jack kind. Are those the electric ones?

Yes, my rear stabilizers are electric. Even my Wife wanted me to order them this time, as she was tired of watching me with the last camper, hand-cranking them.

Ack, I hear you there. Had 4 of those on my last camper. I ended up solving that with this setup:

This will give you sound outside, but you will not hear anything that was recorded in stereo coming from the right speaker outside... (Well you will but it will be a lot quieter and coming from inside)

Not to bring the party down, but if you ran your 2 new 4 ohm speakers in parallel off your one existing speaker then you now have an impedance of 1.33ohms on the one channel of the amp in the stereo.
I don't know the specs of the amp, but I would assume it's spec'd for 4 ohms and there is very little quality built into it to begin with.
My quess is you will burn it out sooner or later.
And this is all just a guess that all the existing speakers are on thier own channel. If there is more 4 ohm speakers in parallel, then the impedance is even lower.

Just my thoughts.
Or just don't turn the volume up very loud and have an outside jamboree.

Yeah, I'll probably re-wire both Left & Right new speakers to the Left & Right factory outdoor speakers. I just did this setup as a quick fix. Plus I didn't have enough spare speaker wire the day of this install.

Nice job. I found that when extending the metal into the mounting brackets, it moved a lot, so I took some gorilla tape and wrapped the tape around half way to give it a more stiffer slide, so I could get the right fit. Just a tip for anyone else that follows the herd on this one.

It should be a standard option on all trailers. The knob that comes with the door is lousy. I found mine on Amazon, but they can be found at any RV store. Camping world
