Axle flip questions

I have been trying to figure out if this will work or not. I'm wanting to get more clearance with my sport 8 (w/brakes). Looking under it, why couldn't you put the axle on the other side of the springs and then rotate axle to align spring perch instead of welding on new spring perches?

Because all axles have a bow in them. Much easier welding on new perches or moving the old ones.
