Bathroom mods and screen door lock of my 17Z

The bathroom in the camper is nice, but I needed to change a few things to make it better. I added another towel rack. I replaced the small fan that was standard with a Fantastic Fan. The new fan moves a lot more air. I also wanted a shower surround. I use my camper and didn't like the having the shower water spray the wall paper. I also added a shower curtain rod across the bathroom. This allows me to hang towels, wash clothes, wet clothes, etc. over the shower so they can dry (and not drip on the floor). I added my own shower curtain to the existing shower curtain. I Velcro-ed the old and the new curtain together. This way I have an inner and an outer curtain. It was done just for looks. I like moose.

I added a simple latch/lock to the inside of the screen door. This is to prevent my dog or a child from opening the screen door.

The mods you made look good and are practical. I have also made a few mods to my 5er. I think if someone studies his problem and makes a trip to Home Depot or his local RV supply, anything is possible. I always like making a good thing better.

I like the shower surround, we were going to do that in our old trailer, I didnt like the water hitting the wallpaper either, we sold the trailer before we got around to doing it and our 5er had a shower surround in it already otherwise that would have been one of our first 'mods' !

Shower Surround

I like your shower surround mod. Where did you get the insert? Was it difficult to install? How did you attach to existing wall, screws, glue??

Would like to add one to my 197. Thanks.

Sorry I missed the earlier post. I ordered the shower surround from Jayco. I wanted it to be the right surround for my shower pan. It is installed with adhesive and plastic rivets that came with the surround. It is an easy mod and one I am glad I did. I use my camper a lot and want to keep it in good shape.

WOW! Dido, we too are interested in where you got the surround. Great mods and thanks for sharing your post. We may very well do something like this to our 17Z..

The surround was on the expensive side. I ordered it over 3 years ago and it was a little under $200. I don't remember exactly. It only took half an hour to install it.

I was thinking about another towel rack, but wondered if the wall would hold the rack. ( I fear it will rip out after a while)
How did you fasten the rack to the wall?

I also added another towel rack above the factory rack. No problems with it or the wall.

I like to use plastic wall anchors when screwing into the paneling walls, if I can't find a stud. I also added an extra towel bar to our 24FBS. Maybe JAYCO should take the hint????
