Battery box lock (one chain)

I Believe in recycling.. so what do you do with a chain that was once used to tow my 1969 W30 Olds 442 around the drag strip... ahhhh!!!! Use it for securing my 2 battery boxes on the tongue of the TT. Can it be done using one length of chain and a lock? Sure can!!

After painting it to make it acceptable to DW, I bolted one end to the Safety Chain bolt on the tongue. I will weld it to the frame when I feel like pulling the welder out. I ran the chain up the front side of the 1st battery box over the top of it and down between the battery boxes and came up the back side of the battery boxes, over the top of the back battery box, cut it to size and locked the end of it to the middle of the chain (see picture). I then took any slack out of the chain between the battery boxes... bolt through the links. The chain has absolutely no slack in it and looks pretty good. You can not slide the chain at all on the top of the battery boxes so the covers can not be removed either.

So will this keep the professional from stealing the batteries, probably not, but it should keep the average NON-Professional from getting them without a lot of hassle.
