battery(s) upgrade
Seriously contemplating making the move to two 6 volt batteries over the single 12 volt battery I have now. Looks like the Trojan T-105's will be the choice after doing some research. i plan to do more boondocking than hook-up camping so with my renogy 100 watt suitcas solar and Yamaha is3000 we should be good to go. I'll have to cut the old bracket off and add a new one to accomodate the new battery box that i just ordered. I'll post pics of the mods as I do it.

I'm still fairly new to all this. (even though it says senior member under my name). Isn't the trailer already wired with an inverter?
Thanks

no. your 120 only works when plugged into shore power as i like to say.. only your 12v works off battery.. lights, heat, refrigerator, watet pump.. all else you need 120.

Thanks, that's what I thought. We don't use anything that requires much power when boondocking so we should be alright only using the generator when we need 120.

I too couldn't stand the compromise battery that came with the TT. So I went into a "Batteries and Bulbs" store looking for a 2x6V solution.
I got talked into a single 12V deep cycle battery for 60% of the cost with 90% of the capacity.
So far it has worked out very nicely.

No it comes with a converter to convert 120 to 12 VDC.

Looking forward to your pictures and summary. I was going to do the 2 6v battery mod till I figured out the nose of the TT doesn't allow me to mount them in the existing battery rack.

I just added a battery holder on the top of my frame rails for my 6's. Right above where the single 12 went.. I have photos of it posted here in the Mod's section

Well, I had to step up my conversion to the two 6ers. Some not so upstanding piller of society decided to help themselves to my 12 volt ( which I should not have left in the open, unlocked). I purchased a battery box to hold the two six volt T 105 Trojans. I will have to strap the box on the tongue area until I can fabricate a new bracket to hold it. The batteries are in the garage safely now hooked up to the battery tender where I should have had the old one. Oh well, live and learn.

Update: Heres a couple of pics of what I plan on doing. Pic 1 shows the old battery frame/holder which I intend to cut off and build a new one to accomodate the new battery box (Pic 2) which will hold my new Trojan T-105 6 volters.. In this pic, I just have the new box sitting on the old frame and I will use tie downs to hold it until I can get the new stuff fabricated. I'll update as I go. I plan on building a locking metal strap to encapsulate the box to stop further thievery.

This is the temporary set up till I can get the mounting fabricated. They're going to have to work pretty hard to steal these batteries.

I have the same trailer and had the same problem. I ended up cutting the existing angle brackets off then had a new shelf welded on for $150 that holds a torklift box and 2 6 volts. The shelf sits about 4" below the bottom of the tonge frame. I think it looks sharp. Ill take a couple of photos for you when it comes back from the dealer in a couple of weeks.
