If your talking about the one in the recent "temp" picture, that is North Toledo Bend State Park. Probably my favorite in the whole state, and one of the best maintained ones.

Yep that's the one I was asking about. I guess I should have been more specific. Thanks for the information. It's now on our list. Here lately our two favorites have been Land o pines and little black creek

Are y'all up this way due to the floods or for other reasons? Guessing from your user name you do or did the same thing I did for 20 years.

So, I don't have any RV mods to post, but in order to keep my thread alive, I figured I'd post this. My son had wanted a pontoon boat toy for the longest. Well, if you've ever searched for one, you know nobody really makes one, so, I made one for him for Christmas 2015. Well, as soon as he got it, he lit up all bright, but shortly after, asked, where's the trailer for it. So, I've put it off for as long as I could, and the mini me just wouldn't back off of his request for a trailer for his pontoon boat. So, here it is. It hooks up to his Bass Pro truck that pulls his bass boat as well. Tell you what, once kids know you can build stuff, the requests don't stop. I've never posted the gooseneck trailer that hooks to a power wheels truck I built for my daughter a few years ago.

Thank yall for the kind comments. Little John is one happy camper. Just wish somebody that's seeking to employ somebody would realize the skills. Can't land a job for nothing. Still unemployed, and have been since March. Everybody wants a dern college degree, and school of hard knox don't count (I have a major degree in school of hard knox).

So, now for something that's actually in the camper itself. I decided to replace the décor above the doors. The OEM piece is just fabric covered luan, which doesn't look too bad really. But, I can't ever leave well enough alone. I'm not exactly thrilled with the outcome, but what's in the pictures is what's going in it's place. I took the original piece, traced it onto another piece of wood, made marks for the original screw holes and here it is. The "D" and crosses are free hand carved with a dremel and drill bit, then accented with a wood burner. Not the best work, but still more interesting than a piece of fabric.

Still have to seal and poly tomorrow. I'll do the bathroom door another day.

Thank you for the prayers SouthCo. We need them that's for sure. Funny how nobody wants to hire you once they find out you're a 20 year X-Oilfield hand. And I mean absolutely nobody near where we live. Never mind that usually means you are a jack of most trades, MacGyver, etc. Their loss I guess. Everybody wants a 22 year old college grad that has no real world experience. They want the piece of paper. No offense to any of those guys on here, but...... Can't learn in college what you learn offshore, and at the school of hard knox.

So anyway, here's the final picture of the door décor. Looks better than original I think. Not my best work, but the wife likes it, and Little John approves since he helped. I made the one for the bathroom as well today and will install it in the morning. Didn't do any kind of carving or wood burning on that one. I do a lot of Little John's homeschooling, especially since I'm not working, so his incentive today, was when you finish school, we'll install the piece above the door. We did his homeschooling in the camper, he finished at rocket speed and he was happy to see it installed.

Now that it's done, I'm thinking of adding some side molding to the main door to finish it out. Guess I need to quit since I keep adding more and more weight with the solid wood mods.

John, your mods are amazing. Thank you for posting them and in such detail, too. I stumbled across this forum and your thread in particular while searching for potential mods to make my 24-foot Class C more enjoyable while full-timing the next several months. So many great ideas here!

Thanks,

Mike

Sorry to here about your job situation the Lord will make a way somehow!

I really like what your doing with your camper I tend to change things to meet my needs as well. I'm just not as ambitous or maybe skilled as your are. keep up the good work

A BIG thank you to all of you with the kind comments. Even though I'm unemployed, as long as I have a surplus of lumber and parts, I'll keep on going with the mods. The last several ones have been done out of stuff I had laying around. Hoping for a job SOON where I don't go crazy. I'm used to working my tail off, at a real job.

Again, this isn't a mod, but something I just wanted to post. You gotta love kids, even though mine push my buttons every hour of the day. My oldest lost another tooth today. She still is a firm believer in the tooth fairy, so, she wrote him / her a letter. Didn't say much, but got the point across. She wanted the tooth fairy to pray for us, mainly meaning for employment as that's what we pray for every evening. Obviously she had wrote this while in bed this evening as normally her hand writing is really neat. Gotta love kids. Now I have to think of something for the tooth fairy to write back to her, since I'm pretty much the tooth fairy.
