Here's what I try to do...let the DW come up with the idea (after I subtly mention some inadequacy of the item to be replaced or modded). That way I look like the hero for doing her upgrade. [emoji3]
Doesn't always work, but my kitchen remodel was "her" idea.

A very well-used tactic in our household. On both sides!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure my wife used it on me to get me to buy a new (to her) vehicle. Lol

Well, shop fans are done. Now I don't have to sweat so much working on stuff. Just a few pics of progress today. My mom and dad came over today and were a great help to make this happen.

And the last of those pictures. Now that this is out of the way, the new sink in the Rv is priority.

John,

Very nice!!! The fans should be a great help on the warmer days.

After I posted I kept thinking about it all day, I had a feeling the tt sink was smaller. Just couldn't picture it when I posted. Oh well, I will still plan on the sink mod. Just may not be as soon!

[QUOTE=RAurand;525654]Did this to my ladder the last 3 days. WOW, What a huge difference. Ladder don't flex at all. I used rubber chair feet on the bottom and top of the 1 x 1 aluminum bars, filled them with adhesive silicone and used hose clamps to keep the rain out.

THANK YOU![/QUOTE

So here's the finished deal on the sink. Finished up around 11 last night as I just couldn't leave it unfinished. Only thing I'm aggravated with is the new faucet, which was my brain fart. Doesn't take much to notice that the base part doesn't fit THIS sink too well. The first 2 I picked at lowes were out of stock, so I went with 3rd choice, not even thinking about the base. Not a huge deal. I'll just take this one and put it on my shop sink (It presently has one out of a 2014 Cedar Creek), and I'll get what I want for the Jayco. In the mean time, it all works fine.

On the water lines, I shortened them up, put some 90 deg pex bends, shut off valves and new hoses. On the drain line, I just changed half of the p-trap, cut off the glued 90 on the camper side and went back with the compression type fitting. If you don't own one, or hadn't seen this one before, you'd never know I messed with it.

Next few projects are the new shoe rack with coffee pot area, change out the gasket on the AC, and maybe at some point, fab or get fabbed some all aluminum skylights (Sounds dumb kind of). Mine are deleted, or useless as seen in the early threads. I just want to get rid of the plastic on the roof, but I still need a few inches to allow for the insulation since the mods eat up where the insulation would normally be.

Not sure what I'm going to do with the old sink. Keep it in case somebody needs a replacement? Shoot it, beat it with a sledge, I don't know? If anybody wants it let me know. I won't even repurpose it like I normally do with stuff. Extremely flimsy.

On another note, RAurand, thanks for the pictures. Now there are 2 ladders like this in the United States.

John,

Sink looks great!!! Nicely done!!!

Interested in the "coffee pot" part of the new shoe rack.... While we don't drink coffee, makes the wheels turn wondering what your idea is and if the ice maker might fit in place of the coffee pot.

On the shoe rack / coffee pot thing, just picture what I have now, with 4 shelves, and at the same height as the kitchen counter. Same depth, same width, just taller. Also thinking of putting a pull out just under the small countertop. I hardly drink coffee either, yet I have 2 Keurigs and other makers. Maybe I'll use it for the toaster. I had tried to salvage the formica off of my old dinette table for this project, but that was a flop. Usually laminate like that comes off easy with a heat gun and I've done it a few times, but that stuff was THIN and cheap. So, looks like I'll either just do a top like my newer dinette table, or get creative with a carved design and some bar top epoxy.

As usual, excellent work BigJohn!
Did you wind up trimming the opening for the new sink?

Anxiously awaiting the coffee pot mod - I am a 3 pot a day drinker and always struggle with coffee pot placement...

RedHorse1, yes the opening has to be trimmed a little. If you look close in the last pictures I posted (the one with the open hole), you can barely see some pencil marks on the counter. I didn't do it like you normally would where you place the sink on the counter upside down, trace the outline then subtract around 5/16". I just set it in the hole, traced around where the securing tracks are under the sink lip and cut those out.

Got home from Church today, and couldn't sit still for long, so decided to go ahead and change out my AC gasket. I like to change these out every 2-3 years regardless. I'm not a reactive type, but a procactive / preventative type. So here's a bunch of pictures of the process.

1) Some may know, some may not, but there are several options for AC gaskets. I only like the Coleman OEM gaskets. First picture is of a Coleman (left) and a Camco (Right) side by side. Notice how dense and thick the coleman is, vs the more porous looking thinner Camco.
2) AC unbolted by removing the inner shroud and (4) 5/16" bolts.
3) Picture of where the AC goes. Never know how dirty your roof is until you see the new color where the gasket was, and I clean my roof 6-8 times a year.
4) Old compression and support gaskets removed.
5) New compression and support gaskets installed and roof cleaned as best I could. On the rear gaskets, I do things a little different. I don't mind my rear end sagging a little, but I like my AC's rear end close to level. I use different support foam strips on the rear. They are similar in density and thickness to the compression gasket. Most of your weight is on the rear of the AC where the compressor / motor is, so over time, without sufficient support, this will sag. On mine, the metal frame of the AC was 1/8" from tagging the roof, and that could cause a wear spot or hole over time in the roof membrane. Food for thought for those that have that sagging AC.

6) Just a picture trying to show the thickness of the compression gasket compared to the mid and rear foam strips. Pretty close, which is the target.
7) Something I hope everybody that has done this has seen. These are tattle tale tabs, one in each corner. You tighten the gasket down until these are at roof level. I just eye ball and measure, but these are there if you need them.
8) A picture of the intake shroud. Make sure you seal up the little things, as this is your air intake box.
9) I could've done more, but these are the obvious points.
10) Notice how level the AC sits now. Guess I should've taken a before picture, but I assure you, it had a major tilt to the rear.

11) And here's the Coleman P/N if anybody is interested. It runs anywhere from $25-30 depending on where you get it.
12) I guess I got a weird son by some standards. He was roller blading and playing before. I asked if he wanted to go sweep and mop the shop, and he kicked the blades off and jumped in the truck. He is obsessed with cleaning the shop.
13) Nothing to do with the AC, but just something to look at next time you're on the roof. The 3-4 pieces of the batwing antenna that tag the roof along with the rear portion of the wing. It's happened, these have worn holes in a roof before. I usually put a few squares of Eternabond under the pieces on the antenna as a preventative measure. If you have the newer Jack or similar, no worries, ignore this picture.

OK, that's it. Shoe rack is next, I think.

Are the rear support strips included in the gasket pkg? They look to be different.

The main compression gasket and a few of the small rectangle pads are, but I doubled the small pads and used a rear support out of a camco kit.

The Coleman kit rear support was too spongy, thus not good support. That's the only part I didn't like about the Coleman kit.

If you look at a camco compression gasket and squish it, you'll quickly realize it is inferior to the Coleman.
