So here’s the final product. Little John tried his best not to grin but failed. This was a major budget build. Only thing purchased was the dowel rods, the cleats and the components of the lift mechanism.

Lift rod is 3/8” rod, welded on washer, machine bolt and nuts, other washers and stop collars. Lift lock is a piece of coat hanger.

Lift ropes are trot line I had plus small eyelet screws.

99% of structure is scrap wood sawed into 1/4x3/4” and 3/4x3/4” boards.

Roof is aluminum I had left over from the exmark mower canopy.

Fish cleaning sink is a piece of 2x6 cut down, 1/4x3/4” scrap, a hitch pin cut into a faucet and screws for the hot cold handles

Hope y’all like it. He does.

Thanks Dale / Tom. He loves this thing. Should be closing on new to us lake house mid May. It’s boat stall is similar to this, which sparked the idea in both of our heads. Only thing, he’s wondering why his doesn’t have an electric lift. Yes, I thought about it, and had a small motor, but really didn’t feel like figuring gear reduction and such to reduce lift speed. Maybe later.

Very Cool John,
Question for you.
I have a 28BHBE as well. Did you ever make slide out drawers for the pantry? Stuff can go way back there and get hard to get out. If you did, Which drawer rails did you use and where did you screw them in to. I am always afraid I would punch a screw right thru the wall they are so thin.

Thanks.
PS. We home school as well.

Thanks all for the kind comments. Who knows what toy he’ll request next. Some of the things I build are things I wish I’d have had as a kid, so I probably enjoy this more than him. Yes, I do play with them too.

RAurand, I never did do that mod, but seems like I’ve seen somebody do it. I agree though, hard to get stuff from the deepest part of the pantry. We’ve forgotten about several things due to being shoved back. Cool deal on the homeschooling. In our case, it’s extremely challenging with the oldest.

He’s already got 2 bass boats that fit in the stall plus the barge I built him last year. I have thought about making one though.

ibra, here’s the info. Just reordered in March. They keep info so we’re able to pull my old invoice from 2015. Hopefully you can see the p/n and name/description in the first picture.

I've got a few people that like to see me feeding my addiction to working on these things day after day, so every now and then, a nice gift shows up. I know it's been done a 100 times, but figured I'd post it since I finally got mine done. I had bought the PVC fence posts last year while I was still working, but never got around to it, then of course the oilfield went to the pits and there the posts sat idle, until today.

Pretty simple. 1x1 aluminum tubing, 5/16" all-thread, nylock nuts, washers, 5x5 PVC fence posts and caps, and 4" rain gutters with some wood inserts and handles. The front post houses one of those 7' ladders that fold into a square, the rear holds the sewer hose and fittings. Yes, I drilled the frame, but like all of our rigs, the warranty pretty much got voided the first week I owned it. No worse than the 100 other holes drilled in it.
Hey John

How long are the PVC fence post sleeve? Did you cut them? Do you mind taking a close up on the mounting hardware curious to see how you mounted them. Looking in starting this project this weekend. Thanks

P.S. I see you haven't lost your touch, work looks awesome.

BigJohn, just circling back to see if you ever came up with a good idea for your coffee pot. I am still trying to figure out a solution for this...

The post I got from Home Depot was 8' long. I just put a piece of a rubber mat between the post and the frame and mounted it with some metal strapping and self tapping screws.

Here is my issue, John I really like your idea but in Canada it's really hard to find what we call here 5x5 PVC jacket sleeve at our local hardware stores (Lowe's, home Depot etc). It requires a special order from a fencing company where the price is way to expensive.

However I managed to find some but the 9ft post has 2 openings on the side shown in the picture. It may not be a big issue as it will help with the drainage and moisture but little creatures may get in there. The other option is home Depot sells 4x4 ones but I am worried with the gutter insert the RV sewer hoses and any adapters won't fit. Has anybody done the sewer mod using 4x4 fence post? I used a 4x4 post with a 4” gutter. No different than the rear bumper. As for the sleeve with the holes for the rails cut out, you could simply cover with duct tape (or aluminum AC tape) and mount the sleeve with the tape side up against the underbelly.

Ibra, the posts are 8’ long. No cutting necessary. Don’t know when I’ll be back at the shop since we’ve moved now. A little more difficult to run out and take a picture now.

I still have it in my head, but unfortunately all projects got put on hold, which may turn into long term. We still have the shop, but since we’ve moved and with little time off I’ll be lucky to use the camper 1-2 times a year. Considering selling the whole rig, truck / trailer and all. It’d make someone a fine setup with no issues to fix and tons of upgrades. Compared to what I see coming off the lines now, this one is a gem.
