Bumper caps
The plastic or rubber bumper camps keep working out of the bumper on our Jayco. Has anyone found a way to keep them in and still have easy access to the tube? I don't want to use screws.

Hi, and welcome to JOF.
DO a quick search on amazon.com for "RV bumper cap" and you will find all kinds of designs that lock, or have retainers, or permanently mount with hinged "doors". Lots of options available. Most of these can also be purchased locally at an RV stealership if you don't like doing mail-order.
BTW the thread caught my eye with the "bumper camps" title. Was wondering if that was what happens when you stay at the tailgater too late

First off, welcome to the forum!
I think your only recourse may be to get new end caps. They're fairly inexpensive.

Drill a 5/32 hole in top and bottom. Install a 1/8 steel wire with a 90 degree bend on the top. Easy to install easy to remove. Have done this for 50 years on my TT-5er and never lost a cap.

Welcome to the forum.
Have you tried making a slight bend in the edge that slides into the bumper (maybe take a pair of pliers and twist the edge a bit)? That could increase the friction holding the cap in place.
Do you store anything in the bumper?

The original owner of my first TT drilled 1/8" hole through each end the bumper and the caps. Then used 5" #8 machine screws and nuts to secure the covers.
I found that to be a pain-in-the-posterior. But I never lost either of those caps in 6 years of ownership.
The new TT has a bunch of barbs to keep the caps secure. I figure on replacing then every 3-4 years to be safe.

I used these locking bumper plugs.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...aa3d1dc1e0b5f5
They haven't budged at all. The original hard plastic ones almost fell out a few times, so definitely had to do something.

Not sure if your caps have a hole in the middle but my did so I used a long bungee cord and hooked it on each end. It keeps the caps from coming off as well as giving me easy access to the bumper interior.

Luckily I have yet to have any issues with my bumper end caps.
But, when I decided to get around to it. I will drill a hole similar to what was described above, that align with the existing holes in the bumper. Then I will use a piece of wire cut from a cheap metal wire cloths hanger. The type you get from the drycleaner. Cut a piece off maybe 6 inches long, bend one end over that is about an inch long, place it down the holes and call it a day.

Thanks to all of you that sent a reply. I now have several ways to consider. I appreciate it.

I did this on my last camper as the caps just wouldn't stay put. My Jayco caps have managed to stay in place all year.

Here's an idea I'm half considering. Since my end caps are in pretty tightly, I doubt I'll ever find the need to do it:
High-Viz End Cap

Now, thats a great idea. My caps are tight, but this might be something I install.
Local hardware store must have them, and I can cut them down

I drilled a small hole in the top of the bumper/cap for a cotter pin to hold the stock caps on.
Edit: A picture worth a thousand words...

Yellow Jacket wasps like to build their nests in the sewer hose that is in the bumper. I siliconed a small peace of window screen over the hole in the bumper cap. No more wasps get in. I also drilled a small hole and put a cotter pin in the hole.

A piece of brazing rod works great because it doesn't rust. You can find it in the welding supply section of big box stores.
