Bunkbed Guard Rail Pictures
A couple of members wanted me to post my bunkbed pics after I got them installed. I have to say, they turned out well and are very sturdy.
Took a 1"x12", cut it to the length I wanted (different lengths on the beds, due to the ladder on one of the beds), rounded a corner with a jig saw, sanded down the whole board (corners, edges, and both sides), stained with Cabot stain from Lowe's. Bought some 1/2", 3/4", and 1 1/2" woodscrews. Bought some standard closet shelf holders (I think one side is 11" long and the other end is 13" long). Screwed the 1x12 to the lip on the bunk itself, then screwed the rail to the shelf bracket.
Took about 10 minutes to install in the trailer. The time consuming part is the staining. I just put one coat on one side let sit over night, then did the other side the next day. I didn't use any urethane coating or sealant, I'm not a patient person.
Drill pilot holes for your wood screws. Also the bunk that tilts up, the 1x12 is about 1 inch from hitting the slide out ceiling, it fit perfectly.
