Cutting a Door in Dinitte Base

This is our first RV so I'm checking if I'm missing something before doing this.
We have a new to us Jay Feather 242 which has a ton of storage space already but I was looking at the Dinitte base, which is really hard to access and thought it would be an idea to cut an opening in the back of the base near the door and make a shoe garage.

I do notice that some of the newer models have doors but usually on the ends. I would frame around the opening for strength.

Has anyone done so something like this, and did it work out OK.

My TT already has the door like you mentioned, but I imagine it can be done. And it's carpeted. Just make sure of what is in the base. And yeah, frame the opening so you can hang the hinges.

Yes! I did that in our travel trailer. It was quite handy. I'll look for photo's.
