Dinette Bench Access Door Mod

With storage at a premium in a small TT, the dinette bench is simply a waste of space. You just can get to it without major effort moving cushions, table and occupants around.

I ordered a standard upper cabinet door and hardware from my local Jayco Dealer and went to town. Total cost was about $50.....but I felt it was worth it all said and done. I thought about how I should I swing the door for about a week. Swinging left or right created access challenges. The best decision for us was swinging downward. It's right by the front door so I wanted easy access from standing outside as well inside

Cant wait to put it to use in few weeks.

Great job and great way to get at the space. Looks like it came from the factory that way.

Did the same thing to my 23B. There is a trailer surplus place down the road and I got my door that matches closely for $5.00. I went with the hinges on the left because I store more of the outdoorsy stuff in there so I primarily access the items while standing outdoors. I reinforced the surrounding panel with a face frame made using pocket screws mounted inside the bench. You did a nice job.

That`s nice work, looks like factory installed. My TT has the cabinet doors there, but they open sideways. Wonder why Jayco did not put doors there....

I have a similar floor level cabinet door next to my main entry door, great for grabbing things (soaps, aluminum foil, towels, etc.) without having to come into the TT.

I have been thinking about how to easily access the space under our dinette seat and the solution is now very simple. Thanks for the pics and ideas. Our little summer time trailer is not a Jayco but the idea is universal.

Sweet!... I might do the same thing. On that side and also under the lower bunk on 184BH. That will be a nice place to throw in dirty clothes LOL while camping. that will give more accessibility on those spaces rather than lifting those foams and plywood everytime.

Love this forum there's a lot of inexpensive mods LOL I have to stop reading soon as my list is going, going, going..... loooonnng LOL

Kudo's 3B's.

I think you should "pre-mod" every new prototype TT introduced in Indiana.
