Door Window

Maybe the wrong spot for this, but it's a mod I 'want' to do. Our Swift didn't come with a window in the door, so every time you open it, it could be someone's forehead in the way. I am looking for a round window, I'd even like to try for one of those round bubble windows used on vans from the 70's. Anyone have any suggestions? The install should be straight forward, just need to locate the window. Any help would be appreciated.

Great Idea! We have a frosted window in our door, and I do not like it. I think it would be fully doable, but what would concern me is the construction of the door. First thing I would do is try to locate the door manufacture information and see if you can get the internal construction design of the door. I am sure there is a manufactures name and model number on the door frame. From the design specs you should be able to pick out a window of the appropriate size and install it. The door manufacture may even have a window to fit.

Door Window

I would think as long as you have a frame that will fit the thickness of your door any window would work out for you. I have put a stain glass window in a couple doors and from the looks of it should be a easy project. A few of us locally get together every year and hit the many salvage yards in northern Ind. tons of ideas and things to work with. Take some pictures when you do your project and good luck.

Yeah, im not too concerned with the door construction. I would guess they simply sandwich rigid foam insulation with sheet metal. The doors would need to be insulated like the rest of the trailer. Anyway... Those old bubble windows had two collars, an inner collar and an outer one (with the lexan bubble window) the inner rin has holes for screws, i think the outer ring has threaded posts for the screws. Cut the right size hole and silicone the outer ring before screwing together should prove to be weather tight. Just need to locate the bubble window.

"Far out Man!" I say, go for it! You can probably find a window at one of those rv salvage companies (google search?).

I too hated the frosted window in my 31BHDS. I took it out and measured the glass size. Went to a glass replace company and they cut me a piece of glass to fit. Removed the frame and glass again and installed the clear glass in the door. Sure makes a difference with the light coming in and I can now see who knocking at my door.

Do you have some sort of blind or curtain on the door window now?

Is it possible to just purchase a door that already has a window?

I would recommend using butyl tape to bed the window.

Check J.C. Whitney. They might have all the cool bubble windows you need. Probably some Maltese Cross ones too!!
