Installing Vortex I bathroom fan in JFlight

Has anyone had experience changing out the factory bathroom fan for a Vortex I?

Our original fan died so I ordered this Vortex as it is supposed to just pop into the existing hole/frame without having to replace the roof vent. For some reason it just doesn't quite line up to where the crank mechanism should attach (the old to the new). Looks like I am going to have to do some surgery to make it work.

Rather disappointed as it says right on the Vortex packaging that it works with the Ventline fans; which is what I had.

IIRC there were instructions on how to relocate the vent handle on the Vortex. It was a simple install for me, maybe 10 min, including relocating the vent handle.

Hey thanks for this reply!!! After your response, seeing as we both of Flights only one model year apart, I knew I must have done something wrong.

Went back and rechecked that vent handle gear box and realized that although I did try attaching in both positions I had the gear box oriented in the wrong direction. We need to move this post over to the "great bonehead moments" thread!

thanks again for the response... once again this forum has been a great help.
:-)

Is it an upgrade worth doing before the stock fan dies?
