It is a crappy of colorado electric. I put jack poles under each end to support it incase of a wind storm. You MUST do this or the awning will disintegrate. My manual awning I used for 4 winters with no trouble.. this one 2 weeks and it went S. Put the jackpoles under and it held up well.

Just installed my 3rd row of LED's this one just under the roller tube so when the awning is rolled up I still have lights.. I put a power point (cig plug) on the aluminum trim to give it 12V power so I dont have to use the 120-12 converter.. did a test last night after dark and had all my neighbours over watching

There's an option to buy a power supply, but from some of the research I've done, people are saying just to wire it directly to the 12V DC power in the trailer. My question is, since the controller box needs some sort of DC adapter to get the power to it, how would I power the controller box? I was thinking of buying the power supply and just cutting the plug off that goes into the controller box and wiring that to the trailer DC power. Does that sound right? Has anybody done this?
Sorry if this post is confusing.
Heres a link to what I was looking at:

I just did. Here is the link:

Hey everybody,
Just wanted to update you all now that I finally got these installed. The install went pretty smooth, except the sticky tape on the back didnt hold very long. I ended up using some clear sticky silicone to keep them up. I drilled a hole in the camper up at the top so I could get the wiring into the area where my stereo and porch light are wired. I ended up buying a extender cable for the RGB wiring which is pretty small, so I only had to drill an 1/8" hole. I pig-tailed the power from the porch light switch in the RV and I used the ground from the stereo/DVD player. I took those wires and attached them to a new switch, so that I could turn these on independently of the porch light.
I did notice a problem though, when I watch a DVD through the stereo, I see all these lines going up the TV screen when the LED lights are on. Not sure what that is about, but it probably has to do with using the ground from the stereo. Although, it doesn't happen when watching TV.

Here are some pics.

Thanks for all your helpful tips and tricks!

Brian

Hi All, I tried the same thing brbeel just shared and they fell down too. I then purchased some 3M Automotive molding tape having read somewhere here that is good to use. Is the clear sticky silicon that is mentioned above just normal 3M silicon that would be used for calking? When the lights fell the backside of the strip still has glue on it but it won't stick. Do I need to remove that glue and if so how? Is there another adhesive that cold be used? I would hate to have them come flying off while driving down the interstate. Thanks for any suggestions.

I use xscorpion clear 1/4" tape from amazon on my awning tube. Didn't remove glue on strip. Holds very well after about 2 months. Lights under roof without xscorpion are starting to lift. I'm pulling them down and reinstalling using the tape.

i stuck mine on the awning tube and mount the control box with velcro on tube, and just remove the box when i roll up awing, right now i have a 120 to 12v adaper (had it laying around) and i run a extension cord, i plan on just tapping into 12v and not using the adapter when i get a chance. i like the option of using lights when i dont have shore power

To funny, I just had the same issue. I read on another forum using a hot glue gun. Well it worked. I had put a dot about the size of the strip every three to five inches and press it in quickly to avoid a bump and to have the glue almost like ooze around the strip to hold it. I was so bummed after fishing it with the power awning wires and soldering a ribbon cable to the front compartment , to turn around and see it peeling off the gutter.

He said there is no problem drilling through the camper to run the wire, just make sure you seal it with silicone.
Update: Just opened up my camper from one of the coldest and snowiest winters in Connecticut. Powered up: the 3m auto strip held up and every LED worked!
